  • 'Potter' actor clueless about fifth film

Harry Potter actor Jason Isaacs has admitted that he hasn't even read the script for the fifth film.

"They started without me. Like most things in my life. I haven’t even read the script yet," Isaacs told Empire. "To be honest, I don’t know what happens in it. I know that I’m meant to end up in prison - that’s no great secret.

Asked about whether he will make an appearance in the movie, he replied, "I hope so, I can’t bear the idea that somebody else would get to wear my Paris Hilton wig, but you never know."

Isaacs plays Lucius Malfoy in the movies.

  • Gary Lineker splits from wife

Gary Lineker is splitting from his wife after 20 years of marriage, it has been revealed today.

The football presenter was apparently "devastated" after Michelle told him that their relationship had run out of steam.

"She feels the marriage has come to its end," a friend said. "She told him several months ago and they have already sorted out their finances.

"When Michelle told him she wanted the marriage to end, Gary tried to talk her round. But she has refused and it is now Gary who is asking for a divorce on the grounds of her unreasonable behaviour. It is fair to say he has been absolutely devastated but they now have an amicable relationship. There have not been any rows recently but they have just drifted their separate ways.

"The decision to split was made a few months ago. She's already spending some nights in a flat nearby. Friends are baffled by it."

  • Tom Cruise Blows Up Los Angeles

    tom-cruise-bomb-squad

A newspaper promotion for Tom Cruise's upcoming "Mission: Impossible III" got off to an explosive start when a county arson squad blew up a news rack, thinking it contained a bomb. The confusion: The Los Angeles Times rack was fitted with a digital musical device designed to play the "Mission: Impossible" theme song when the door was opened. But in some cases, the red plastic boxes with protruding wires were jarred loose and dropped onto the stack of newspapers inside, alarming customers. Sheriff's officials said they rendered the news rack in this suburb 35 miles north of downtown Los Angeles "safe" after being called to the scene Friday by a concerned individual who thought he'd seen a bomb. Times officials said the devices were placed in 4,500 randomly selected news boxes in Los Angeles and Ventura counties in a venture with Paramount Pictures designed to turn the "everyday news rack experience" into an "extraordinary mission." It was just that, at least for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department arson squad, which destroyed the box. "This was the least intended outcome. We weren't expecting anything like this," said John O'Loughlin, the Times' senior vice president for planning. The devices are to remain in the boxes until May 7, two days after the film is scheduled to open.

  • CRUISE TO BOOK BEATLES TRIBUTE FOR WEDDING

TOM CRUISE is considering hiring BEATLES tribute band THE BOOTLEG BEATLES to play at his wedding to KATE HOLMES, after his MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE III co-star SIMON PEGG suggested them.

Pegg, who plays computer geek BENJI DUNN in the new movie, hired the Beatles imitators to play at his own reception when he married MAUREEN McCANN last summer (JUL05).

He says, "Tom and I were discussing bands at weddings and I told him I had The Bootleg Beatles at mine and that they were really good.

"I'm not sure if he's going to heed my advice and book them for his wedding to Katie - but you never know."

  • Depp sues to guard view from Hollywood Hills home

"Pirates of the Caribbean" star Johnny Depp has crossed swords with city officials over a proposed Sunset Strip commercial development Depp says would block the scenic view from part of his Hollywood Hills estate.

The actor contends in a lawsuit that the city of West Hollywood violated environmental quality laws by approving development of retail shops, a restaurant and a parking structure on a lot beneath his gated, 2 1/2 -acre property.

Depp also argues that the project would block the view his two children have while playing on a terrace outside the 7,430-square-foot home.

The development would rise about 45 feet above the famous Sunset Strip. Its roof would be about 40 feet below Depp's home, but the building would still block views from a portion of the backyard terrace, which is down the hill from the house.

Those behind the development argue that Depp has declared that the youngsters - Lily-Rose, 6, and Jack, 4 - will be raised in France, where he and French actress and singer Vanessa Paradis also have a home.

Developer Joseph Emrani of Venice Investments, who is a partner in the project with his brother, Youdi Emrani, said he challenged Depp's representatives.

"They said, 'The kids are playing over there and they don't want it to block their view.' I mentioned that his children live in Paris, and one of them said, 'That's very personal and we don't want to get involved with that,' " Joseph Emrani said.

Depp's attorney declined to discuss the case.

A Los Angeles County Superior Court judge ruled against Depp last year. The case is being appealed on his behalf by his sister, Christi Dembrowski, who is also Depp's personal assistant and president of his film production company.

  • Westlife star to make his film debut this summer

    westlifesnicky

Westlife’s Nicky Byrne is to make his debut on the silver screen this summer, after signing up to make his first movie, the Evening Herald can reveal.

The singer will doubtlessly be taking some acting tips from Kian’s girlfriend Jodi Albert when it comes to impressing movie bosses with his latest project in the summer.

The pop heartthrob broke the news to the Evening Herald backstage at The Point where the boys were kicking off seven, sell-out concerts as part of their 'Face to Face' tour.

Although its still in the early stages, Nicky says the script just appealed to him instantly when he was approached by an Irish director to take on the role.

"Obviously Westlife will always be my number one priority but I discussed doing a movie with Louis and the lads and they all said I should go for it" said Nicky.

"I did an acting course in New York last summer which I really enjoyed so making a movie will be a new experience for me".

The chart toppers told us of their attempts to make pop history by becoming the first Irish act to crack China.

For the first time ever the famous foursome will be the subject of a 'warts and all' documentary being made for ITV1.

They may be familiar faces on these Isles but they are virtual unknowns on the other side of the world. So now the four stars have agreed to let a camera crew follow them around China filming a fly-on-the-wall program as they try to make it in the world’s most populated country.

"In around three months, once the tour is over, they are going to fly over there and have a film crew follow them around the whole time and document their journey", revealed Louis Walsh, their manager.

"No one from Ireland or UK has ever really cracked china, apart from Wham, and Westlife are determined to make an impact."

  • CHARLIE'S MANAGER SLAMS DENISE

The New York Post reports that that Charlie Sheen's manager is speaking out about the feud between Sheen and his estranged wife Denise Richards.

"All of this is nothing more than child-custody issues," manager Mark Burg reveals. "This all started because Charlie wanted 50-50 custody. When Denise said no. Charlie said, 'Then let a judge decide.' The next day, she comes out with a bunch of bulls**t claims. Did he gamble on sports? Big deal. Every guy I know does. Show me a guy who hasn't seen porn on the Internet. Does that mean he's not a good father? No. This guy lives for his kids. And she drummed all this up so he can't see his kids. It is the single worst behavior of a parent I have ever seen."

Last week, Denise shocked the public by filing for a restraining order against Charlie, claiming he tried to kill her, viewed inappropriate material on the net and was raging gambler.

  • I'm sick of Tom Cruise...& yet I'm fucking not

Tom Cruise has announced that Grammy-winner Kanye West and Oscar-winner Jamie Foxx are to be his daughter Suri's uncles.

While attending the London premiere of 'Mission: Impossible III' Cruise told the UK's Mirror, "Jamie Foxx is going to be uncle. I asked him today and he's accepted. He's an amazing guy."

And that's not all, Suri could possibly have two uncles. "When I get back to the States I'm gonna ask Kanye West," confessed Cruise.

Cruise, as per usual, continued his ranting over his love for fiancee Katie Holmes. "I love her and I can't wait to get married to her. I can't wait to look at her and think she's all mine," said Cruise. "I want the wedding to be in a few months. I've phoned her a billion times since I've been here. Of course I miss her, how can you not?"

When could you start choosing uncles?

  • 50 Cent Sounds Off About Oprah Winfrey

He usually saves his beefs for other rappers; this time, 50 Cent is going after Oprah Winfrey.

In an interview with The Associated Press, 50 complained that Winfrey rarely invites rappers on her talk show: "I think she caters to older white women."

"Oprah's audience is my audience's parents," the 29-year-old rapper said. "So, I could care less about Oprah or her show."

He's not alone in his resentment toward the talk show host cum media mogul.

Rapper-actor Ludacris, aka Chris Bridges, said in the May issue of GQ magazine that Winfrey was "unfair" during a show he appeared on last October with co-stars from best-picture Oscar winner "Crash."

"She edited out a lot of my comments while keeping her own in," he said. "Of course, it's her show, but we were doing a show on racial discrimination, and she gave me a hard time as a rapper, when I came on there as an actor."

  • Red Hot Chili Peppers for Voodoo fest

The Red Hot Chili Peppers are the first band confirmed for the eighth Voodoo Music Experience to be held in New Orleans on October 28-29, organizers said Thursday.

Last year's Voodoo festival was the first major musical event held in the Crescent City in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, and boasted performances by Nine Inch Nails, Queens Of The Stone Age, Tiesto, the Bravery, the New York Dolls and Secret Machines, among others.

"Despite the past year's events and the uncertainty it has created in the city -- it is an honor to have the Peppers be the first act to sign on," Voodoo producer Stephen Rehage said in a statement. "I think it speaks volumes about the influence New Orleans Music and musicians have had on the world."

  • Lost Actor freed from jail

"Lost" actress Michelle Rodriguez left jail Friday after serving a sentence for drunken driving.

Rodriguez was sentenced to five days in jail and fined $500 after she pleaded guilty Tuesday. She entered the Oahu Community Correctional Center later that day.

Rodriguez, who was credited for one day served because of time spent in custody after her arrest last year, was released after serving about 65 hours.

OCCC Warden Nolan Espinda said inmates receive full credit for any portion of a day served.

It was an uneventful stay for Rodriguez, who lived in a dorm with 60 other female inmates, Espinda said. She could read and watch TV, and she had to keep her area clean, he said.

No media were present when Rodriguez was released.

Rodriguez, 27, who portrays police officer Ana Lucia on the ABC drama, chose the jail time and fine rather than perform 240 hours of community service.

She and fellow "Lost" cast member Cynthia Watros were both charged with drunken driving after they were pulled over Dec. 1 in separate cars within 15 minutes of each other.

Watros, who plays Libby, pleaded guilty to drunken driving in January and was fined $312, ordered to undergo an alcohol assessment and 14 hours of counseling. She also had her license suspended for 90 days.

Rodriguez's troubles with the law aren't over. She's serving three years probation after pleading no contest in 2004 in Los Angeles to three traffic violations, including drunken driving.

  • Wedding bells for Prince William

Tabloid newspapers are speculating that Britain's Prince William, 23, is about to propose to his girlfriend Kate Middleton on holiday in the Caribbean.

The elder son of heir to the throne Britain's
Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana is flying to the island of Mustique on Friday to join the 24-year-old Middleton, the Evening Standard reported on Friday.

The London newspaper, which broke the news of Camilla Parker Bowles' engagement to Britain's Prince Charles, said William sought advice on the best place to hide away from prying paparazzi lenses.

Mustique was the favorite holiday destination of William's great aunt, Princess Margaret. Her son Viscount Linley sold her villa on Mustique to cover death duties.

Feverish speculation about a royal engagement began in The Mail on Sunday with the banner headline "Kate takes William on holiday -- but will he pop the question?"

William has in the past said he did not want to get married until he is at least 28 or 30 but the paper breathlessly reported they could be just "weeks away" from being engaged.

But Judy Wade, royal correspondent for the celebrity gossip magazine Hello, felt the rumor mill was over-reaching itself.

"I think this romance is serious but today young couples live together for a while. And William wants to be sure, and not have a disaster like his parents," she told Reuters.

"I don't think he will get married until next year at the earliest."

Asked to confirm the Evening Standard report of the romantic Caribbean tryst, a spokesman for William, second in line to the throne, said: "We never comment on private holidays."

The pair met while studying at the University of St Andrews in Scotland and shared a house together.

The royalty-obsessed press agreed to leave William alone at university but the uneasy truce was broken when paparazzi pursued the couple around the elegant Austrian resort of Klosters when they went skiiing together.

Middleton, dubbed "Her Royal Shyness" by one newspaper, is the daughter of two middle-class entrepreneurs who run a company which provides accessories for children's parties.

Jessica Hay, a friend who went to the same boarding school, told The Independent on Sunday: "Kate has class, stamina and the mental strength to survive the limelight."

The self-effacing brunette will need all that stamina to survive "trial by media" -- the remorseless spotlight faced by William's late mother Diana, who died in a Paris car crash in 1997 while being chased by paparazzi.

William and Kate have been apart for the last three months while he began army training at Sandhurst military academy.

His 21-year-old younger brother Harry, once dubbed the royal "wild child" for his underage drink antics, graduated from the academy earlier this month.

He has been romantically linked to Cape Town student Chelsy Davy, who in, contrast to Middleton, is regularly portrayed as an avid party-goer.

  • Kristin Kreuk Arena Outtakes

    kristin-kreuk-arena-outtakes

"I think that I'm different from other actresses on WB. Partly because of my Asian side -- my look -- I don't think I come across like Katie Holmes does on-screen... My dad’s Dutch and my mom’s Chinese, so she was responsible for being tough with me and with my sister. That’s the Asian part in my personality, being conservative. I couldn’t date until I was 16 and I wasn’t allowed to wear any make-up until that age and any grade at school under a B was a disaster. Everything is part of the education I got and the weight problems with girls I knew closely, because my little sister has a friend who was bulimic at age 12. It’s just terrible... I did karate when I was younger for like five years, and I couldn't stand it...but that's because I think it was regular karate... I think it was Shotokan karate so you like block block block, punch punch punch and so it wasn't very much fun. But I do wanna go back into it." -- Kristin Kreuk

The 23-year-old actress currently plays Lana Lang in WB's Smallville and her upcoming film Partition is scheduled for release later this year.

  • Jolie and Pitt Circling Atlas Shrugged?

Lionsgate has picked up worldwide distribution rights to Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged from Howard and Karen Baldwin (Ray), who will produce with John Aglialoro, reports Variety.

Atlas Shrugged, which runs more than 1,100 pages, has faced a lengthy and circuitous journey to a film adaptation.

The Russian-born author's seminal novel, published in 1957, revolves around the economic collapse of the U.S. sometime in the future and espouses her individualistic philosophy of objectivism. The violent, apocalyptic ending has always posed a challenge but could prove especially so in the post-9/11 climate.

  • Angelina Jolies Today Show Interview

    angelina-jolie-today-show

Ann Curry :: In what seems to be the middle of no where, on the edge of Namibia in Southern Africa. A very pregnant Angelina Jolie emerged from her private family vacation to speak on behalf of children in poor countries who don't get to go to school. What is the worst, in your mind, of that?
Angelina Jolie :: God, there are just so many things. It's really that thought of the potential of a human being. The lack of education causes death. More children die under the age of 5 when the parents aren't educated. More people get AIDS when they haven't had an education. Statistics prove that if every child was in school, every year, 700,000 less people would get AIDS.

AC :: It seems also, for you, kind of a personal thing. You have two children you've adopted. Both of you whom might have been in this same circumstance of not being able to get educated. And when you look at them and realize that...
AJ :: I look at them and just think, especially my daughter and how many millions of kids are out of school in her country. Especially girls. And I know how families with AIDS when parents die of AIDS, there's no possible way that children can make a school fee. There's no possible way she would have gone to school. And she is so smart and so strong. Her potential as a women one day is great. You multiply her by thousands and that is the thing that I can so clearly see when I look at her. Maddox -- the amount of street children in his country... in all probability Maddox would have probably been one of the kids going the garbage picking in the streets. He would have been on his own.

AC :: It must mean much to you, as a human being, to be able to give them an opportunity they never would have gotten.
AJ :: I'm happy for them that they're gonna have all this education and I hope, with it, they do some good things. That they're good people. [giggles]

  • George Clooney uses star power over Darfur

Joined by senators from the left and right, Oscar-winning actor George Clooney used his star power on Thursday to focus attention on Sudan's Darfur region, where he said the first genocide of this century was taking place.

Clooney told heart-breaking stories of visiting the border area between Chad and Sudan's Darfur region last week, where he watched refugees spilling into sordid camps and women foraging for food who faced the threat of rape or death.

Clooney urged the public to attend rallies across the United States this Sunday to pressure Khartoum to stop what Washington says amounts to genocide in Darfur.

Hollywood actors, political, religious leaders and sporting personalities will be among those at the rallies, which are expected to draw hundreds of thousands of people.

"What we cannot do is turn our heads and look away and hope that this will somehow disappear," Clooney said to an unusually packed news conference at the National Press Club. "It's the first genocide of the 21st century."

Clooney showed a short video from his visit with his father to Sudan and neighboring Chad, a collection of interviews and disturbing pictures of emaciated children in dusty camps.

The actor, flanked by conservative Sen. Sam Brownback, a Kansas Republican, and liberal Sen. Barack Obama, a Democrat from Illinois, said a young girl asked him during his trip when he would return and "stop this."

Clooney is usually seen more frequently among Democratic politicians and has often criticized the Bush administration for its policies, but on Thursday he said issues such as Darfur could not be partisan.

Two rebel groups from Darfur, which is about the size of Texas, took up arms in early 2003 over what they saw as neglect by Sudan's Arab-dominated central government.

Khartoum is accused of arming militias drawn mainly from Arab tribes to crush the rebellion. A campaign of murder, rape, looting and arson ensued that has killed tens of thousands of people and drove more than 2 million into camps in Darfur and Chad.

  • BECKHAM GETS FREE CAR WITH £20,000 OF EXTRAS

DAVID Beckham was handed a £70,000 car for free yesterday - days after hi-tech thieves stole his armour-plated BMW.

Beckham, 30, landed a posh Audi Q7 4x4 with £20,000 worth of extras - then took it for a spin on a race track.

Real Madrid's 23 star players each get an Audi every year as part of the club's sponsorship deal with the car manufacturer.

The England skipper opted for a 4.2FSI in phantom black with pearl-effect paintwork, black leather interior, car phone, flat screen television, Bose stereo, satellite navigation and a keyless entry and starting system.

Beckham then tested the 154mph motor on a specially built dirt-course in Madrid, driving French star Zinedine Zidane, 33, and Italian striker Antonio Cassano, 23, round the track - under the watchful eye of an instructor.

A Real Madrid source said: "It is a specially constructed track near our training ground, with ramps and plenty of steep descents to make it challenging.

"David insisted having a go at the wheel. Zidane and Cassano looked a bit nervous at first but David is a great driver and was 100 per cent in control the whole time."

Beckham's estimated fortune is £87million and earns £100,000 a week with the Spanish giants.

But he was loaned the Audi Q7 for the year for free - on condition he drives it every day to training.

An Audi source said: "Beckham asked for just about every extra possible on the car, bumping the price up by £20,000." L On Monday, it was reported that a gang of car thieves stole Beckham's [ £70,000 armoured BMW X5 while he was eating lunch with his sons.

The gang used hi-tech software to start the car's engine electronically in a car park.

  • QUINTANA OFFERS HILTON A LAST CHANCE FOR PEACE

Hollywood club boss BRIAN QUINTANA is planning a full-on court war with PARIS HILTON if she snubs his latest attempt to end their bitter legal battle.

The Los Angeles party planner originally sent the socialite a "cease and desist" letter, which contends she was "ruining his reputation and interfering with his business relationships" last November (05). Quintana also accused Hilton of slander, claiming she had been making unfounded allegations about him to the US tabloid media. He has since won a three-year restraining order against the socialite after a Los Angeles Superior Court judge agreed Hilton was a threat to him after she made criminal threats against him.

But Quintana has attempted to end the squabble by agreeing to meet with Hilton and her lawyer ELLIOT MINTZ, but no agreement was reached. The party planner has now retained a new lawyer and plans to press on with a civil suit against Hilton, claiming "slander, interference with business relationships and emotional distress and harassment".

But he's offering her a final laurel branch - the chance to put the past behind them and join him to relaunch trendy Hollywood nightclub Teddy's. Hilton was a regular at the hip Roosevelt Hotel club before it closed its doors last month (MAR06), amid reports of underage drinking. And Quintana, who has been approached to take charge of the club, believes it the re-opening will be a perfect opportunity for the two foes to kiss and make up. He explains, "I don't want to drag out a lengthy legal battle. I need people to know they can trust me because I'll be around for years. "So, for a small fee, I'm asking her to make an appearance with me (at Teddy's)." He'll even drop the restraining order, which prevents Hilton from coming within 25 yards (75 metres) of the party planner when they're at the same event, and 100 yards (300 feet) at all other times.

If "stubborn" Hilton refuses to accept Quintana's latest peace offering, he fears the worst for her: "Worst case scenario she goes to jail for felony assault and criminal threat (sic), which is a felony in LA. "It surely makes more sense to settle this - at the moment she can't even speak to me and it must be embarrassing for her to have a restraining order in place against her."

She says, "As an only child you either become a loner or you learn to put yourself out there, which my parents encouraged. "I remember when I got The Horse Whisperer, I was crying because I didn't want to leave school and my friends. I didn't know what was going to happen to me and I was going to go off for three months and I didn't know what I was doing. I was freaking out. "Mom just said, 'You have to do this. This is going to be an incredible experience. Even if you only do this one movie and never do it again, it doesn't matter. You'll have this moment and you can go: I did that once and it was amazing.' "She really was incredibly supportive."

  • Westlife set Arena high

WESTLIFE have racked up another amazing career record - as the most popular act in the glittering history of the M.E.N. Arena.

The group's two sell-out performances over the weekend took sales for their shows at the Manchester venue past the 250,000 mark - the first act to do so since the Arena opened in 1996.

Before going on stage on Saturday night, Shane, Nicky, Mark and Kian were presented with specially commissioned `Platinum Tickets' to mark the achievement.

Arena general manager John Knight said: "It is remarkable to think that approximately one in every 20 tickets sold at the arena over the past five years has been for Westlife.

"The boys seemed genuinely pleased by this milestone, and asked if Take That would beat it after their concerts here next month.

"I assured them that their record of 22 shows and over 250,000 ticket sales was safe for some time yet."

Shane told the 14,000 fans about the honour. He said: "We love coming to Manchester and tonight has been a special night because we have been given an award.

    Possible

"I would like to thank all of you for making it possible."

The Irish boyband's record will be made all the sweeter by the fact that they pipped their former manager - Ronan Keating, who performed 14 times at the Arena with Boyzone and fives times as a solo artist - playing to 242,000 fans.

It was Ronan who gave Westlife their first big break of course - the band supported Boyzone at one of their MEN Arena dates and, in those days, went by the name `Westside'.

Take That are likely to claim third spot in the M.E.N. Arena popularity stakes. They have already recorded 143,000 sales and stand to add another 90,000 with their six sell-out shows later this month.

  • Richards Told Locklear of Her Love For Sambora

Denise Richards reportedly called a summit meeting with longtime pal and neighbor Heather Locklear to reveal she was in love with the latter's estranged husband.

The star, who is in the middle of a bitter divorce from Charlie Sheen, met up with Locklear days before going public with her Richie Sambora romance, according to In Touch magazine.

Hollywood gossips claim the Sambora/Richards romance has ended the friendship between the two actresses, who spent New Year's Eve together at a concert - without their husbands.

The publication also claims Richards may have been instrumental in prompting Locklear to divorce her husband after 11 years of marriage.

A friend tells In Touch, "She was the one who told Heather to file for divorce."

Locklear and Richards first became friends in 2001 when the former "Bond" girl joined Sheen and Locklear in a "Spin City" episode.

  • Britney Spears shows her nanny the door

Distraught mom Britney Spears has fired her nanny.
The singer made the decision to get rid of little Sean Preston’s keeper in the wake of the child falling from his highchair, according to In Touch Weekly.

Britney has been “hiding out and depressed” since her son’s head-bonking incident and cancelled plans to celebrate her brother Bryan’s birthday, the mag reports. “She wanted to be a mother and thought she could snap her fingers and be the perfect mom,” a “pal” told the mag. “But Britney is learning the hard way that being a good mother is something you always have to work at.”

Britney also reportedly hired a doctor to advise her on how to keep her tot safe. “The doctor advised her not to leave Preston on any high surfaces where he could roll off,” an insider told the ITW, which also reports that Spears was so impressed with the sage advice that she wanted to hire the doctor full time, but he told her that it wasn’t necessary.

But apparently, childcare is putting additional pressure on Spears’ marriage to her aspiring rapper hubby, Kevin Federline. The two got into a spat over whether to go to his hip hop show at the Las Vegas club Pure last week. “Kevin wanted Britney to stay out that night, but she refused,” an insider told the mag. “She wanted to stay at the hotel with the baby because she felt uncomfortable leaving him with the nanny.” So Brit spent the night in her hotel room while Kevin partied.

  • Angelina: Life With Brad Just Happened

Finally breaking her silence about her relationship with Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie says the public's interest in the two of them causes her to "giggle".

Describing the curiosity of others as "just kind of funny," Jolie, speaking to NBC's Ann Curry for segments due to air on Thursday's Today show and Sunday's Dateline says, "If (Brad) saw this, he would probably understand why I was laughing. Because I just don't know how to address that kind of thing."

On Wednesday's Today, Curry described her trip to Namibia where she interviewed Jolie as "wonderful."

The actress, along with Pitt and her two children – Maddox, 4, and Zahara, 1 – are in the African nation to await the birth of their new family member while residing at a luxury report.

As Jolie tells Curry, according to excerpts from the interview released to USA Today: "I don't talk about our – my relationship in public. But we also don't talk about it at home. … It's one of those funny things that just happens, and you live your life, and you're a family. But you never actually discuss (it)."

Correcting some reports that her baby is due as early as next week, Jolie, 30, also reportedly announces that she is not quite eight months pregnant.

Jolie does tell Curry that the reason she consented to such an interview is to bring awareness to the cause she promotes: educational opportunities for children worldwide. "I just think, especially my daughter, there's no possible way she would have gone to school. She is so smart and so strong. And her potential as a woman one day is great," she says.

"Hopefully, she will be active in her country and in her continent when she's older. And because she'll have a good education, she'll be able to do that much more."

She goes on to say: "My life is very full. I'm very proud when I see my children – already Mad, just how he adjusts to different places in the world and different people and his views and the kind of man he's going to be. I'm very lucky."

  • Actress Exits Play Over Alec Baldwin

"Entertaining Mr. Sloane" could be retitled "Exiting Jan Maxwell."

The actress left the Roundabout Theatre Company's revival of the Joe Orton comedy last Sunday after complaining about the behavior of her co-star, Alec Baldwin.

She will be replaced by her understudy, Barbara Sims, for the remainder of the play's run, which ends May 21 at the Roundabout's Laura Pels Theatre.

Maxwell's departure was first reported Wednesday in the New York Post, which obtained a copy of an e-mail the actress sent to a friend about Baldwin. In the note, the actress declared that the "bottom line was my physical safety, mental health and artistic integrity — none of which Roundabout was supporting."

In the e-mail, Maxwell said Baldwin put his fist through a wall and was "throwing things around with all of us cowering," and Maxwell accused Baldwin of giving the Roundabout an ultimatum: refusing to go on with her.

Baldwin, who was doing a matinee performance, could not immediately be reached for comment. Sheldon Lubliner, Maxwell's agent, said in a statement, "Ms. Maxwell has nothing to add to what has already been written about this incident. She regrets that a personal e-mail found its way to the press."

The Roundabout, in a statement, said, "Mr. Baldwin has been totally professional in all dealings with the company and management throughout the engagement of `Entertaining Mr. Sloane' and we are delighted to have him in the show. Ms. Maxwell chose to leave the production, and there was never any question of an ultimatum."

The nonprofit theater said the actress had give the production three weeks notice last week, refusing to stay until the end of the run.

"After Ms. Maxwell made it clear that she did not want to stay, Roundabout decided for the benefit of the entire `Sloane' company to let her know that she need not return to the production (of course receiving payment for the notice period of her contract) which she gladly accepted," the theater said.

Maxwell has long been a critics' favorite and received a Tony nomination last season for her work in the musical "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang." In "Sloane," she received mostly positive notices for her portrayal of a sex-starved woman vying with her brother, played by Baldwin, for the attentions of her hunky tenant. The Associated Press said Maxwell gave "a hilarious, tremulously determined performance."

  • Reena's Red Carpet Kiss

Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, 27, and girlfriend Reena Hammer, 20, shared a kiss on the red carpet of the world premiere of Mission Impossible III. Reena studies ancient Latin translations and Persian, her father owns beauty spas and her mother is a very famous make-up artist who has a cosmetics line. During an interview in the March/April 2006 issue of Social & Personal magazine, Jonathan talked a little about his leading lady.

How long have you been going out with your current girlfriend, Reena Hammer? A year and two months. I live with her.

How do you cope when you're away working? Phone calls. Texting. Emails. I've learned how to deal with it over time, because I've been on the road for about nine years now.

Do you ever send her flowers or chocolates? She comes and visits. I'm not really the sending flowers type. I'm not very romantic.

What does she do? She goes to university.

Does distance ever make you insecure about your relationship? You have to have trust - and I have to trust her as much as she has to trust me. I go out with a girl who's ten years my junior and very, very beautiful, so why shouldn't I be insecure?

  • Tom Cruise used to hitchhike with prostitutes

They'd see me and they'd go, 'Look, I'll pick up a john and you jump in'. So I'd ride through the tunnel to New Jersey.

"The driver's a little like, 'What's this guy doing in the back seat?' But he saw I'm just this 18-year-old kid. I didn't look dangerous.

"And they didn't do anything sexual in front of me. I'd get out in New Jersey and say, 'Thank you very much'. Then I'd hitchhike home."

  • Settlement reached in Michael Vick herpes case

A woman who charged in a lawsuit that Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick knowingly gave her a sexually transmitted disease has agreed to an undisclosed resolution of the case, his attorney said Monday.

“The case has been resolved,” attorney Lawrence Woodward said.

When asked if the details of the agreement between Vick and the woman, Sonya Elliott, would be disclosed, Woodward said: “The only comment I’ve got is the case has been resolved.”

Elliott, a 26-year-old health care worker, claimed she tested positive for herpes after unprotected sex with Vick in April 2003. In the complaint, filed in Gwinnett County State Court, Elliott contended that Vick “apologized profusely” for failing to disclose he was infected with the disease, which can be treated but not cured.

The lawsuit also claimed Vick used the alias “Ron Mexico” when seeking treatment for the disease.

"He used to do a bit of break-dancing in his youth but he was pretty rusty. Now he's got back into it, he loves it."

    ---------

Gary Barlow has said Take That have started writing as a group and might stay together.

The band have been preparing for the start of their comeback tour at Newcastle Metro Radio Arena on Sunday. They have also just released an official picture of the four together in matching white suits.

Meanwhile, Barlow suggested their reunion might be more permanent than planned. "We've enjoyed getting ready for the tour so much we've started writing together," he said. "If it's any good, we might be back for good."

Around 300,000 people have tickets for their 29 shows in Birmingham, Glasgow, Sheffield, Manchester, Wembley Arena, Dublin and Belfast. Some tickets remain for Milton Keynes Bowl in June and the Cardiff Millennium Stadium.

    -----------

"It's going to be amazing," a source said. "And that's the whole team back together. What better way to give the fans what they want?

  • Will Angelina leave Brad for Colin Farrell

With Angelina Jolie's mid-May due date fast approaching, sources say that a recent blow-up with Brad Pitt over her secret correspondence with Colin Farrell was the fight that sealed their fate as a couple.

After a string of disagreements over everything, friends close to the couple say: "It's basically over between Brad and Angelina," in a report that airs on Access Hollywood tomorrow night.

The final straw is said to have come when Brad spied an email Angelina sent to Colin Farrell, whom Angelina briefly hooked up with last year.

She told Colin she misses him and would love to meet up with him in Rome. She even included her new cell phone number.

"Brad blew up when he saw that email," an insider explains. "He's insecure to begin with but he was devastated that Angelina was trying
to arrange a meet-up with Colin.

"Angelina told Brad that if she couldn't have the open relationship she wants then they shouldn't be together."

In January, Brad and Angelina fought viciously because Brad left Angelina exhausted and sick in a hotel room in Paris - while he spent a carefree night out with pals. "Brad has a selfish tendency to think only of himself," said the friend.

He ran afoul of Angelina again in February when he dashed off to New York, leaving Angelina alone after she learned her cancer-stricken mother had suffered a major health setback.

Another source reveals: "Then he incensed her by leaving her a third time when he went off to visit pals in the Dominican Republic in March.

Brad seems to becoming more distant, as well as mistrustful and jealous with each passing day. Angelina feels awful right now and all she wants is a little TLC from Colin.

Some of the couple's stress can probably be written off as the normal wear-and-tear of a couple juggling two careers and two kids - Maddox, 4,and Zahara, 14 months - while getting close to having a third, which begs the question: Has the relationship simply come too far, too fast?

  • Like a Becks Machine

GODFATHER Of Soul JAMES BROWN is to duet with ROBBIE WILLIAMS at the BECKHAMS’ World Cup party.

And I reckon the James Brown and Robbie collaboration will be a masterclass from the ultimate showmen in music.

A source said: “It’s going to be a blast. James Brown’s representatives flew in to London this week for talks. As soon as they sat down with David and Victoria they were given the full sales pitch about how big a night it would be.

“James Brown is the perfect showman to make an appearance.

“Robbie has signed up and loved the idea of taking the stage with Brown. They will do a set of songs each then one together. They are yet to decide which track.

“JB might be 72 but he still tours as hard as artists half his age.

“And he’ll be more than a match for Robbie with his dance moves.”

  • Jenny Shimizu: I had Angelina & Madonna

THE model who seduced Angelina Jolie into a lesbian fling has confessed to having a superstar bit on the side...MADONNA!

Crop-haired Jenny Shimizu grinned cheekily as she declared: "It's most guys' ultimate fantasy to bed Angelina or Madonna. But I'm a girl and I was sleeping with both of them—AT THE SAME TIME.

"They were both sensational lovers who got incredibly turned on by the touch of another woman."

For the first time Jenny revealed an astonishing string of gay affairs with the world's most beautiful celebrities, detailing how she:

REVELLED in being pop diva Madonna's sex slave, on call 24 hours a day for red-hot action,

‘MARRIED' David Beckham's one-time mistress Rebecca Loos, embarking on an erotic affair that's still flaming, and

SNOGGED supermodel Naomi Campbell in a deep French kiss.

Calvin Klein star Jenny— who last week admitted how she shared eight years of lesbo lust with Angelina— recalled how Madonna picked her out for romance. "She spotted me on a casting video and called me out of the blue," said Jenny, 38.

"She asked me to dinner and I went to her house. Nothing happened that night, but we both felt an immediate attraction.

"Then two days later I went back to a party and instantly we both knew that we'd end up in bed together.

"From the age of 14 I'd watched her videos and thought, ‘I'm going to have sex with that gorgeous woman one day.'

"And that night my fantasy came true—again and again and again.

"For hours we explored each other's bodies, kissing every inch. Far from the domineering, sex-crazed woman many think she is, I found her a very gentle lover.

"It wasn't about whips and chains. Madonna wanted someone she could trust to call when she wanted pleasuring right there and then. I was her secret ‘booty call' available any time of the day or night for secret sex sessions.

"One time she was doing her Girlie Show tour in Paris and I was in Germany on a photo shoot.

"But she was so desperate to see me she booked me on a flight and demanded I go to her room at the Ritz. I was happy to oblige— this woman exuded raw sex appeal and I couldn't get enough of her.

"At 2am we met in her room as ordered and by 4am I was off, after two hours of slow, passionate sex. That was always how it was. We both gave each other what we wanted till we were satisfied, then I'd leave. It wasn't about an emotional bond, it was about taking each other to the heights of sexual ecstasy.

"I loved the fact I was at this woman's beck and call. It turned me on being ordered to her room whenever she felt like sex."

Mum-of-two Madonna was single when she had her fling with Jenny. Now married to film maker Guy Ritchie, she has always admitted to being bisexual.

And when she first glimpsed tattooed Jenny she told pals: "I gotta meet her! I gotta have her!" While Jenny was seeing Angelina she also had a close encounter with supermodel Naomi Campbell — after seeing her nude at a Versace fashion show in 1996.

"It was one of my first catwalk shows," recalled Jenny. "I walked in the room and there, right in front of me, was a naked Naomi.

"And let me tell you, Naomi naked is a sight to behold—without doubt the best body I've ever seen. It's like she's been carved out of marble. She is exquisite.

"Just after that we shared a couple of very passionate kisses."

But it was more than kisses with Becks' ex Rebecca Loos. They met while bisexual Rebecca was hosting Sky TV's Power Lesbians, a documentary about gay women in Hollywood.

As part of the show she was supposed to wed Jenny to highlight a protest that gay marriages aren't legal in California. But the stunt turned to real passion when they kissed at the altar.

Jenny, who is now shooting her own TV show and DJ-ing in Los Angeles, said: "I arrived at church in my ‘groom's' tuxedo then Rebecca came down the aisle in this stunning ivory silk gown and took my breath away. But it was only when the vicar pronounced us man and wife and told me to kiss my new ‘bride' that the sparks flew. We couldn't stop!

"At one point we pulled away and Rebecca just went ‘Wow!' then kissed me again—a slow, passionate kiss which turned us both on like you wouldn't believe.

"She wanted me to go back to her hotel right there and then, but I'd made other plans. So it was two nights before we consummated our ‘marriage'—taking great pleasure in exploring each other for the first time.

"We pleasured each other into the early hours. She was so tanned with this wonderful slim body I couldn't keep my hands off. We fell asleep in each other's arms."

Now the pair keep their passion alive with sexy e-mails. Last September Jenny flew to London to spend a week in bed with Rebecca. And they plan a replay in a few weeks.

"We'd do some gardening together then Rebecca would play wife and cook me a paella before dragging me to bed," said Jenny.

Ask her who's the best of all her celebrity conquests and Jenny just laughs: "I couldn't choose. They were all amazing.

"I just count myself one very, very lucky girl."

  • Carl reveals all about Libertines split

Dirty Pretty Things leader Carl Barat has spoken out about the demise of The Libertines.

In the interview with The Guardian today (April 22) he denied that he kicked Pete Doherty out of the band.

"I never kicked him out of the band. I said to Pete,'You're in a state, you're not turning up for things, you're doing terrible things, which we won't go into- don't come to play this gig. You've missed half the tour anyway-don't come and play this gig. I don't think you're well enough.' He went nuts, and he wasn't well enough anyway, so we continued without him and the long and short of it is that afterwards I said, 'Don't come and play with us till you sort yourself out.'

"He took that as a massive 'up yours', got angry about it and rather than rectify the problems we were talking about he went and formed a band that would put up with his problems so it wouldn't be an issue."

Pete Doherty was released on bail following his arrest on suspicion of possessing class A drugs.

The Babyshambles singer is currently serving a 12-month community order that dates from his appearance at Ealing Magistrates Court in February after he pleaded guilty to a different set of drug-related charges.

Another fan dropped off a bright red baby carriage at the driveway. One onlooker led a chant, yelling, "Two, four, six, eight, time for you to open this gate!" asking the unrelenting guards to let fans onto the grounds of the TomKat mansion.

As SOHH previously reported, Swift (born Ondre Moore) failed to make a court appearance on April 20 following the funeral of his slain group mate Proof where he was serving as an honorary pallbearer.

Swift was due in court on Wednesday afternoon (April 19) for a hearing which would determine whether he violated terms of his probation stemming from a drunken driving case.

The rapper had been ordered to stay away from drugs and alcohol after pleading guilty last October to an operating a vehicle while visibly impaired charge. Since then, he had tested positive twice for drugs and alcohol and has spent several days in jail.

According to authorities, Swift was found near his Novi, Michigan home and was escorted by police to the court where Judge Mackenzie, who issued the arrest warrant, sentenced him to 93 days in the Oakland County Jail, with 10 days credit for time he previously spent in jail for the same offense.

In related news, Mario Etheridge, the C.C.C. nightclub bouncer who shot and killed Proof after the rapper pistol whipped and shot his cousin, Keith Bender, is expected to attend his preliminary hearing on next Wednesday (April 26).

Etheridge, who is currently in custody after turning himself in a day after the shootout occurred, is charged with two counts of possession of a concealed weapon and discharge of a firearm in a building but not Proof's murder. He plead not guilty to both charges when he was arraigned this past Saturday and is facing up to nine years in prison, if convicted.

  • May Andersen arrested

Model May Andersen has been arrested for hitting a flight attendant on a flight from Amsterdam to Miami, police said.

The 23-year-old bombshell was aboard Martinair Flight 643 on Thursday. She was ''loud and disruptive all throughout the flight,'' according to a Miami-Dade police spokeswoman.

Airport police arrested the woman when the flight landed. She continued her unruly behavior with officers, police said.

Andersen was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital to check for signs of alcohol or drug abuse, then booked into Miami-Dade County Jail.

The leggy model has worked in advertising for J. Crew and Victoria's Secret, and has posed in Sports Illustrated's famed swimsuit edition.

She has been charged with simple battery, resisting arrest without violence and disorderly intoxication.

  • '48 Hours' Reveals Lost 'Marilyn Tapes'

Was there more to Hollywood legend MARILYN MONROE's tragic death in 1962? On Saturday night, CBS' "48 Hours Mystery" airs its own investigation into the case, which may provide new clues to the blonde bombshell's death at the age of 36 -- was it a murder, and was there a cover-up?

"I think it's very obvious that there was a cover-up, without question," says Playboy magazine founder HUGH HEFNER, who published a nude photo of Marilyn for the mag's first issue.

Her death at the time was announced a probable suicide, but the CBS show was granted unprecedented access to the only official inquiry that looked at Monroe's death as a potential homicide. They reveal previously unreleased audio tapes involving those who knew and worked with Marilyn as well as those involved in the case of her death.

Friend and 'Some Like It Hot' co-star TONY CURTIS recalls, "I knew there was something disturbing her. For some inexplicable reason, she was going down the wrong path and no one knew it."

The inquiry, led by the L.A. District Attorney's office in 1982, produced hundreds of pages of documents, and many taped interviews, including one with Marilyn's personal physician, DR. HYMAN ENGELBERG.

  • Bow Wow Responds To Lil' Romeo And Master P.

The feud between Bow Wow and Lil' Romeo has intensified, as Bow Wow has responded to comments Master P made surrounding the two rappers' growing beef.

Lil' Romeo's father, Master P, confirmed that the two rappers had crossed paths backstage at Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Award show, on April 1st.

According to Master P, Bow Wow ran in his trailer and refused to talk about tensions with Lil' Romeo.

Now, Bow Wow has come forward to address Master P and Lil' Romeo.

"I can't understand all this, but I guess that's how it is when you ain't getting no attention," Bow Wow said. "You can hear me on the radio all day, every day. You [Lil' Romeo] can't sell no records, and your daddy is on Dancing With the Stars."

Lil' Romeo was apparently offended at the line on the song "Fresh Azimiz," where Bow Wow claimed to be making more money than an unspecified person's father.

Romeo released a diss to Bow Wow titled, "Hood Stars." Master P also accused Bow Wow's success of going to the rapper's head.

"I just think Bow Wow done sold a couple records and got real cocky, and forgot where he came from," Master P said in a previous interview.

Bow Wow dismissed Master P's allegations.

"The crazy part is the line that got them all bent outta shape was an old LL line ("The Do Wop from LL Cool J's 1987 album Bigger and Deffer). That shows how much they know about Hip-Hop."

Bow Wow also countered Master P's challenge to a Pay-Per-View boxing match between Romeo and Bow Wow.

"If Romeo wanna make some real money, come sign with me," Bow Wow said. "Then, he wouldn't have to pull these stunts 'cause there ain't No Limit over here."

  • Pimp C's Bentley Totaled By Fleeing Gang Members

UGK member Pimp C was treated for minor injuries Wednesday (April 18), after he was involved in a car accident while leaving the video shoot for his new single "Pourin' Up."

After the shoot concluded Pimp C and a Rap-A-Lot security guard departed in a silver Bentley.

Mike Jones, who makes a cameo appearance in the video, followed in his black Bentley.

Sources told AllHipHop.com that a mile away from the set, two groups of people in separate vehicles were involved in a dispute, when one fired upon the other.

A Port Arthur Police officer that was escorting the rappers responded to the gunfire and pursued the shooters.

As the suspects fled through local neighborhoods on a flat tire, they crossed over Gulf Way Dr., ran a red light and struck Pimp C's Bentley at high speed.

The back left of Pimp C's Bentley was damaged.

Pimp C was treated for minor injuries and released but the Rap-A-Lot security guard is still in the hospital, although he is expected to make a full recovery.

Keisha Hunter, one of the producers of the "Pourin' Up'" video, said Pimp C was a victim of circumstance.

Hunter also cleared up rumors that Pimp C had actually been shot.

"It is truly unfortunate that these gentleman were innocent bystanders that happened to drive through the wrong place at the wrong time," Hunter said. "The local residents that were shooting at one another were all apprehended and the Port Arthur police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the motivation for them shooting at one another. At no time were Pimp C nor Mike Jones the targets of the shots that were fired and at no time were any of them injured by the gunfire that was more than a block ahead of them."

Police seized an automatic weapon from three alleged gang members, who were later arrested in connection with the incident.

"The accident was crazy," Mike Jones said. "I seen it first hand I'm just glad that everyone is OK." Pimp C's new album Pimpalation is slated to hit stores June 13.

  • Denise Richards asks for a restraining order

TMZ has learned that Denise Richards' lawyer went to court Friday, alleging that her estranged husband Charlie Sheen has threatened her and that his alleged pornography and prostitution habits have put their children at risk. Sheen has specifically denied most of Richards' allegations.

In the documents, filed Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court, Richards alleges that Sheen pushed her, shoved her and threatened to kill her. Richards also claims in her declaration that Sheen made threats against her parents. In his own declaration, Sheen denied making threats.

Richards says in her declaration that during their reconciliation last September, she discovered Sheen was visiting websites with "very young girls, who looked underage to me, with pigtails, braces, no pubic hair, performing oral sex with each other."

Richards also claims in her 17-page declaration that Sheen accessed other websites "…involving gay pornography also involving very young men who also did not look like adults."

The declaration, filled with lurid allegations, was filed by her new lawyer, Neal Hersh. Richards also claims Sheen has problems with gambling and prostitution.

Richards says that Sheen told her that he has a madam.

Richards, who sought a restraining order, claims that Sheen told her after she allegedly discovered the websites, "I hope you f-king die, bitch."

In addition to asking for a restraining order, Richards asked that either Sheen's visitation rights be suspended or monitored.

The judge granted Richard's petititon. Sheen is ordered to stay 300 feet away from Richards and also required that Sheen's visitation with the children be monitored.

The couple has two daughters, two-year-old Sam and Lola, who will turn one in June.

Richards filed for divorce in March, 2005.

Richards issued the following statement: "I am disappointed that the situation has deteriorated to the point that it has become necessary to seek the assistance of the court. However, my primary concern is and always has been the welfare of the children and this action today was taken to ensure their safety as well as mine."

  • New Michael Jackson album in the works

Michael Jackson has returned to the studio and plans to release a new album next year for a record label owned by the son of Bahrain's king.

2 Seas Records, which is owned by Sheik Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, said Tuesday it had signed an exclusive recording agreement with Jackson, and the new album was tentatively scheduled for release in late 2007.

Jackson, 47, moved to the Gulf state soon after being acquitted of child molestation charges in California last year. The 33-island archipelago is about the size of Rhode Island.

"I am incredibly excited about my new venture and I am enjoying being back in the studio making music," Jackson said in a statement released in London on behalf of the Bahrain-based record label.

The label — which is due to release Jackson's long-promised Hurricane Katrina benefit single, "I Have This Dream" — said British music executive Guy Holmes had been named chief executive of the company. It said Holmes would oversee the making of the new album "and the management of Michael's other business interests."

Jackson has been plagued by financial problems since his trial.

Last month, he closed the house on his 2,600-acre Neverland Ranch estate in California, laying off most of the staff after agreeing to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in back wages to avoid a lawsuit by state labor officials.

Last week, he agreed to restructure his finances in a deal with Sony Corp (NYSE:SNE - news)., which shares ownership with Jackson of a valuable music catalog that includes the Beatles.

No details of that agreement were released, but earlier published reports said Jackson was negotiating a debt refinancing plan that would save him from bankruptcy but take away part of his share of the catalog.

Jackson's last studio album of new material was 2001's "Invincible." Several compilations have been released since.

  • the Nick Lachey interview

Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson were America's 21st century sweethearts. But when the cameras stopped rolling, the reluctant star was left all by himself
How do you know when your marriage is over?"

Nick Lachey is sipping a glass of merlot in New York's Peninsula Hotel, his chair pushed several feet away from the table, his back to the room. It is the first warm day of March, but Lachey is spending it indoors. He has already eaten a cheeseburger and fries, and now he is sinking deeper into his seat, drinking a second glass of wine to take the edge off, which no one would begrudge him, given the circumstances.

"I'll tell you how I knew my marriage was over," he continues flatly, tugging at his black T-shirt. "I was told."

We all want to know the dirt. We believe it is our right. Because Nick and Jessica did Newlyweds. In their first months of marriage, they opened their lives to the ever-vigilant cameras of MTV, in the ever-prurient milieu that is reality television, and they did so to promote their pop albums, a strategy that actually worked, but only because it turned them into cartoons -- him the eye-rolling everyman, she the ditz -- and if they hadn't made that choice, if they hadn't been such eager strivers, so ready to talk about their "farting contests" and their "toe jam" on television, then maybe we'd feel a little less invested in the story. But they invited us to the party. And they can't ask us to go home now. Not when the party has started to heat up.

So here we all are, watching the end of the great American love story that was Nick and Jessica. Lachey, 32, a native of Cincinnati, the beefy, affable jock with benign tattoos and a toothy smile that embarrasses him. Simpson, 25, the buxom, blonder sister in the notorious family juggernaut led by daddy Joe, a former Baptist minister turned relentless pimp for his two vocally challenged girls.

Lachey and Simpson met at the Hollywood Christmas Parade in December 1998, when he was a member of the boy band 98 Degrees and she was a sweet, Southern, virgin songstress trying to distinguish herself from that other sweet, Southern, virgin songstress. The pair met again a month later at a Teen People party, after which Lachey phoned his mother in Ohio and said, "I've met the woman I am going to marry."

A man of his word, he wed her in October 2002, an event breathlessly covered by InStyle. Almost as breathlessly as the twenty-two-year-old Simpson's deflowering, a night that was, says Lachey, "a huge deal for her, which I appreciated and respected."

The two lived together for six months before MTV came calling with their film crews, and the happy couple, ensconced in the maw of fresh love where the world seems as benign as a basket of chicks, said yes, come record our ardor, what could be wrong with that? And it was then, lit and wired and observed by millions, that everything began, imperceptibly but irrevocably, to shift.

"When it first aired, we watched it on TV together, and we thought it was funny the same way everybody else thought it was funny," Lachey recalls. "But it was also, you know, surreal."

The more Lachey watched, the odder it felt. Halfway into the first season, he noticed that he was being edited as Mr. Good Guy. Not that he didn't consider himself a good guy. In fact he took pride in his general good-guy-ness, his beer-drinking, belly-scratching, Midwestern normalcy. It was just that he believed there was more to him. Ambition. Passion. A dark side, even. But complexity wasn't funny. Defending Hooters was. Real arguments were depressing. Pointless bickering was cute. The more episodes they shot, the clearer he was cast, the more Lachey felt he needed to be what the fans wanted. And so it was that his house became a prison of expectations, his marriage a performance with no curtain call.

With Simpson, Lachey played the role of the man who won the pussy lottery. That she was widely perceived to be an imbecile did not trouble him. (Or her, for that matter.) Viewers found her stupidity tolerable, largely because Lachey provided her with much-needed benefit of the doubt. If Mr. Good Guy loved her, she couldn't be all that bad.

Newlyweds ran for three seasons and averaged around 2 million viewers per episode.

On November 22nd, 2005, Jessica Simpson informed her husband that she was leaving him, a move that shocked him not because he denied their marriage was foundering, but because he believed they were choosing to inch toward survival. "I never wanted to be a divorce," he says wryly. "I wanted us to be happy. I guess we differed on strategy."

The two had just come from having dinner after the American Music Awards.

"The meal was really nice, actually," he says. "We had a good time."

After dinner, they stopped by a friend's house to pick up their dog, then headed for home. On the way, Simpson asked if Lachey was still coming back to Texas with her for the Thanksgiving holiday.

"We already had our plane tickets," he says. "So I didn't understand the question. I said, 'Of course.' And she said something about how we hadn't really been getting along and then said, 'I think I want a divorce.'

"That blindsided me," he confesses. "I basically said, 'Please, let's sleep on it.' But when we woke up the next day, Wednesday morning, she was still sure."

Even so, Simpson expected Lachey to accompany her home.

"I said, 'I guess I'm not going to Texas,' and she seemed surprised. I was like, 'Are we going to pretend nothing is wrong?' "

Lachey chose to stay in L.A.

Before his wife's revelation, Lachey believed they were working through "a tough phase." Simpson had her own agenda, which may or may not have been orchestrated by her father, Joe, a man so displeased with his daughter's marriage to Lachey that he could barely smile at the wedding.

"I think he felt she was too young," Lachey says generously.

It is well known that Joe Simpson protects his daughters with a Kong-like ferocity, an impulse overridden only by his compulsion to make them famous. This marriage of fundamentally incompatible desires has netted him no shortage of enemies or ill will. As a manager, he's seen as a control freak with a disconcerting hold over his girls -- a Tony Soprano without the sense of humor. It is an unpleasantness Lachey dealt with for years, yet refuses to speak about, like all PTSD survivors, in anything but the vaguest terms.

"I will only say this," Lachey begins warily. "It is difficult, at best, to juggle your personal and professional relationships when they are under the same roof. The mix has always been challenging to me. The Simpson family is a tightknit group. I knew going in they would be there. I'm not sure I knew how extensive it was going to be."

He shrugs, tugs at his belt loop.

"I don't pretend to understand Joe," he continues. "And I can't speculate about what he did or why he did it or for what purpose. It would be easy for me to blame my divorce on him. That would be convenient. But at the end of the day, Jessica is a grown woman, and she made her own decision."

As he speaks, his voice falters. He puts down the wineglass and begins to weep. It is a masculine cry. Large, errant tears brusquely wiped away. Over the next two hours, Lachey will cry a half-dozen times. He will also cry alone that night. And the next day. He will cry because he is "really fucked up right now," and because "it just sucks," and because he is being forced to let go of all of his "dreams for the future built around Jessica." But mostly he will cry because it feels good to finally express something real.

"When it first happened, everyone was like, 'Don't leave him alone at the house, be with him all the time!' But I was never suicidal. I just wanted to deal with it on my own."

Lachey believes he has made progress. And yet.

"I wanted to be everything to my wife. I wanted her to look at me with love in her eyes, the way she did at the beginning, and have her feel like I was the most wonderful, awe-inspiring man on the planet. And when that stopped, it was the worst feeling in the world."

Nick Lachey never wanted to be famous. He wanted to be a football player. Problem was, his mother didn't approve of football and its inherent bone-snapping possibilities. So she kept him from playing until he was in ninth grade. Undeterred, Lachey organized neighborhood pickup games and worked on his sprints. Then, when he hit sixth grade, his younger brother Drew came home with the news that he had been accepted into a performing-arts school.

"And my whole family is making this huge freaking deal over how talented he is, and what a star he is going to be," says Lachey. "And I thought, 'Fuck this, I'm going to audition too.' "

Nick was also accepted. So he went, thinking he would quit when ninth grade rolled around. But by then, he was popular. He was discovering his voice, and how singing made the girls quiver just as much as tossing a ball. And so he stayed, graduated and then continued on to USC as a theater major, a decision that haunted him because even then he harbored secret hopes he might somehow join the team.

"I would watch the guys going to practice while I was going to dance class. And I'm wearing these bicycle shorts and my dance belt, which is basically a jockstrap that goes up your ass, and these stupid dance shoes, and it killed me."

    He pauses, exhales.

"And now here I am with a life filled with dreams I didn't want."

He is joking, of course. Mostly.

When asked if he wants to be a pop star, Lachey hedges. "Could someone show me a list of pros and cons?" he asks. "When I was with 98 Degrees, it was the best of both worlds. We did well enough to reap the benefits, but we were below the radar."

Well below. The quartet, a sort of Midwestern Menudo, signed with Motown in 1996, after meeting a manager backstage at a Boyz II Men show. Soon enough, Lachey says, "they had us hanging out with Jay-Z and these other up-and-comers to give us street cred." A considerable obstacle for the band, whose vibe was more cable-knit, Main Street than shell-toed, MLK Boulevard. Lachey, the pretty boy of the four, has no illusions about where his group falls in the pantheon of boy bandage.

"The Backstreet Boys and 'NSync, they were in another realm," he says. "We couldn't dance to save our lives. We weren't performance-based. We were honest enough with each other about that. We knew our weaknesses. But we still sold 9 million albums."

Lachey has the head of a slavic wrestler, angular and sturdy, with deep-set eyes that these days appear hollow and fatigued. Still he maintains a baby face that he resents, so he keeps his chin scruffy and his few gray hairs uncolored, an attempt to look more like the man he imagines he should be. One hurdle is his mouth, which curls and falls into a thick pout, giving him a decidedly boyish pucker. His body, by contrast, springs straight from a Fifties muscle magazine. Starting at his neck, brawny and thick, with expansive shoulders narrowing to an improbable V at the waist. When he remembers to, he sucks in his belly. The rest of the time he moves through life much like a running back, gracefully in command of his heft.

In the fall of 2003, both Lachey and Simpson released solo albums. Initially neither one sold. Then Newlyweds became a cult hit, and the would-be singers became personalities, and personalities sell records. Just ask William Hung.

But still, Simpson's album soared; Lachey's bombed. "Jessica's label did this really smart thing and tied her next single into the show," Lachey remembers. "My label didn't. So my record stagnated.

"People try to put us in competition with each other. But her success, especially relating to the show, is my success. Her hit 'With You' is about me. How could I be upset about that success?"

Starting more than a year before the divorce announcement, the gossips gleefully speculated about the demise of the Newlyweds' union. Rings were observed on and off. Formal and informal denials were issued. Joe Simpson himself went on TV to defend the solidity of the marriage and his daughter's unfortunate tendency to be photographed drunk and sitting in other men's laps.

"All that stuff in the press -- this week they split, this week they're back together. All that stuff was not our reality," Lachey says now, then swiftly clarifies. "Or I should say, it wasn't my reality. I wasn't trying to defend myself in the press. I was trying to defend my marriage to my spouse."

There is no keener shame than being publicly dumped. Add allegations that your wife cheated on you with several other men -- prankster-actor Johnny Knoxville, Knoxville's wingman Bam Margera, Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine -- and you have a recipe for postal levels of retaliation.

And yet, Lachey refuses to be bitter. He was pissed off for a while. Then depressed. But he drank and he reconnected with his old friends and he buried himself in bosoms large and small, and now he is just tired.

"People forget we're real people dealing with real hurt," Lachey says plaintively. "This wasn't some publicity stunt. This wasn't some scripted-for-reality-television romantic tragedy. It's my real life, you know?"

There is no doubt that in the divorce drama of Lachey and Simpson, it is Simpson who is taking the bigger public-relations hit. The reporting -- covers of multiple magazines, week after week, month after month -- favors Lachey as the cuckolded underdog, the ever-elusive good man foolishly tossed aside. The preferential treatment is a double-edged sword.

When it was printed that Simpson slept with Knoxville on the set of The Dukes of Hazzard, Lachey said nothing. He did not ask for confirmation or denial, and Simpson did not offer them.

"We chose as a couple to ignore it," he says. "On both sides. I chose to trust. No discussion about it."

He held fast when the next wave of gossip swept in, linking her to Bam Margera. And again, most recently, with Adam Levine.

"Adam and I were in a club not long ago and he came over to me to clear the air," says Lachey. "It was a two-minute conversation. He said to me: 'Nothing happened while you guys were married.' He looked me in the eyes and said that, so I chose to believe him.

Lachey is, by all accounts, a stand-up guy, a man unafraid to do the work.

"On the day she filed for divorce, I drove to her parents' house and tried to change her mind. I had done the research and I had the number of the best marriage counselor in town. I thought we owed it to ourselves to try with a third party. You get to a point where there is so much animosity you can't hear each other. But she didn't want to go."

Nor did she want to sign a prenup before they married -- her father didn't want her to either -- when Lachey was at that time far and away the bigger earner. It was a choice that ironically now works in Lachey's favor.

"There was a prenup drawn up by my business manager. There was some question as to her spending habits. It was a way to protect me. She said she didn't want to sign it, and that was the end of it. We've always been a what's-mine-is-hers situation."

Which brings us to the recent alimony hiccup. For a few weeks, on the advice of his attorney, Lachey checked the legal box granting him the right to sue for spousal support, an option he has since passed on. When the document surfaced in the press, a poll revealed most people believed it was Lachey's right. An exception was Jamie Foxx, who used the news to promote his own unassailable masculinity, honking on Entertainment Tonight that "real men don't do those kinds of things," and if Simpson wanted a real man, she should "holler."

"I called Jamie after that," Lachey reports, still clearly irritated. "He ignored the call, so the next time I saw him I walked up and told him what was what. And he did what I knew he'd do, he said, 'I'm a comedian. I was just making a joke.' "

"I haven't requested alimony at all," Lachey says adamantly. "I have no intention of filing for spousal support. And I've been clear with Jessica about not wanting it."

The alimony ripple aside, Lachey has enjoyed a predominantly bruise-free ride down the tabloid shit chute, while his ex-wife has alternately been portrayed as a silly girl who made a huge mistake in letting him go and as an unbridled ho-cake dancing on banquettes and bedding random co-stars.

"Jessica being cast as the villain is unfair to her," Lachey insists. "Marriage is the toughest thing in the world -- to blame her is bullshit." Although many in his camp believe, as one friend said, "Karma is finally happening."

Lachey takes a long, full breath. He is tired of this topic. But he is also unable to talk about much else. "During those last months, we weren't fighting. It was just an overall state of tension. It was suffocating. And it just got worse and worse and worse."

His brother Drew is more specific. "Her family is so involved in her world," he says. "Joe was trying to balance her career and her life and that was a fine line. Plus you had the show. Any time you have an intimate moment with your wife you need to not be worried about ratings."

Lachey firmly denies ever being coached by Joe Simpson: "I don't know what he said to Jessica, but he never told me how to live my life or run my marriage."

But he was there. And he never kept his disapproval of Lachey a secret.

"I don't know if he ever liked me," Lachey says with a wan smile. "To this day I couldn't say. It was painful. Do I think Joe drove a rift between us? No. Was he an influence in our marriage? Absolutely."

Lachey's own parents got engaged the first night they met (mom Cate was nineteen, dad John was twenty-four) and divorced when Lachey was in the first grade. He remembers his dad falling into "a funk" after the split. His mother went on to remarry three more times. His father, once.

My mother was so young, and she is eccentric, outgoing. My dad is more low-key."

When it is suggested that this pattern sounds familiar, Lachey smirks agreeably.

It is another balmy spring night and Lachey is in another New York bar. This time he is drinking beer. This time he is not crying. He is preparing for a long night out. His plan is to stay up until dawn, "maybe flirt with some girls," because now, he can. His spirit is high. The first numbers on his single "What's Left of Me," off his album of the same name, came in strong today, and his label is hopeful for a hit. The song -- an ode to lost love with lyrics like "Now I'm broken/And I'm fading/I'm half the man I thought I would be" -- is the most personal writing of Lachey's career.

"I read somewhere somebody was saying, 'Oh, he's capitalizing on his failed marriage to sell records,' " Lachey says. "That really pisses me off. Like I wouldn't rather be singing about how great love is? About my newborn son and shit like that? Give me a fucking break. I don't get to choose where my life goes. What do you want me to sing about?"

Earlier, at a meeting with Jive Records, Lachey told the executives working on the release that he was afraid the early positive numbers were "about the drama, not about the song."

The Jive people quickly assuaged him.

"You are the people's champion," said Barry Weiss, president and CEO of Jive's umbrella label, Zomba. "Who cares what the critics say? People root for you. They want you to win."

"Whatever," Lachey now says at the bar, nibbling on a bowl of wasabi nuts. "I'm just glad to have a reason to remind people that I'm not just getting attention because I was married to Jessica Simpson."

Here again the tabloids have been helpful, tracking his every hookup with fervor, conjecture that Lachey says is wildly off base.

"There is a constant need to link me with somebody," he says, releasing a long sigh. "

"He's even been pictured with my wife, who was called 'the new blonde,' " says his brother, Drew. "It's laughable. He's never had that player personality."

Ever the gentleman, Lachey won't divulge how many women he's actually been intimate with since Simpson, joking, "Hundreds. In a slow week." Nor will he reveal his overall number of lovers. "But it's not as dramatically high as people might think."

Lachey still believes in commitment. He even believes in monogamy. "I don't know if there were other men," Lachey says, answering the unspoken question. "But if she did cheat, it was the result of something bigger, not the reason we didn't work."

Not that Lachey never wonders. Not that there aren't nights of manic supposition and puzzling that swirl his brain into a poisonous lather of suspicion and hate.

"Sometimes I think it would be easier if I had just walked in the house and found her in bed with a guy. That would be clear-cut. End of story. I wouldn't have to deal with the uncertainty of adultery."

When asked if confirmation of her cheating would have been enough to make him quit her, Lachey hesitates. Finally, he settles on an answer.

"I believe in the power of forgiveness," he says slowly. "But that's an image that never leaves your head for the rest of your life. You walk in on that, that's forever."

He rolls his shoulders. Orders another round.

"But even if she cheated five times over, I would have still loved her. Love isn't the easiest thing to cut off."

It is an hour before the Nets play the Suns and Lachey is eating dinner in the Gold Circle, the private VIP dining club at the Meadowlands arena in New Jersey. As he picks at his steak and fish, he contends that he is an ass man, "even though my track record doesn't really support that."

When asked if he would rather be brilliant but impotent or a dumb sex stud, Lachey grins.

"Dumb sex stud. No doubt about it."

When Lachey takes his courtside seat, the crowd yells his name, and he gives a quick wave. A dozen people approach him; camera phones are shoved two inches from his face. Lachey smiles his toothy smile and signs ticket stubs and only flinches a little when he is asked, "What's up with Jessica?"

During the game, he tells stories of his deeper past. How he lost his virginity at age sixteen to his first love, Rachel, a girl he then stayed with for eight years.

"I was young. I didn't know what the hell I was doing. I genuinely cared about her so when we started having sex, I thought I was going to be with her for the rest of my life. Everything became so serious."

He says the two finally broke up after they tried living together post-college. He then circles back, as he is in the habit of doing now, to the phantom limb of his marriage, his latest breakup. He shares a story about the last time he was in the Newlyweds house. It was the day before Thanksgiving, and Simpson was there. She was crying. Lachey looked at the empty rooms, the cleared-out space, and found himself suddenly short of breath.

"It felt like someone sucker-punched me and took my life away. My dog, my wife, the house. It felt like everything that was normal and real to me had just been just stolen.

"I always believed marriage is a long haul," he says wistfully. "There are going to be bad moments. But when you are in it for fifty-five years, are you going to look back on one or two shit years? Or eight shit years? What about the other forty-seven?"

Endearingly self-aware, Lachey often jokes that he is "a reality star who sings on the side." For all the damage Newlyweds may have caused his marriage, he is bright enough to recognize he would be largely invisible had he passed on the show. He also admits that sometimes when he sees the cameras following him, "I am filled with a homicidal rage. I just want to push them down the fucking stairs."

Still, he endures. Lachey is, above all, a solid businessman. He has lived the power of television. "There are far more talented people than I am out there," he says candidly. Which is fine by him. Lachey doesn't need to be the best. He just wants to work hard and make his albums and write his songs and perform for modest, pleasant crowds, and maybe, someday, be on a hit TV show, "like Moonlighting, the best show ever made."

He is currently filming a pilot, She Said, He Said, about a boy and a girl who meet cute and "the constant struggle we all go through to understand one another," he explains, rolling his eyes at the irony.

    Lachey quickly backpedals.

Lachey's face drops. The sadness, mercifully at bay, has returned. And with it, the questions.

"I don't know what I could have done to stop it. I was holding on for dear life, thinking one day the storm would die down a little. But it never did. And pretty soon, there was nothing left to hold onto anymore."

"I don't blame her father. I don't blame her. You can play twenty questions with the last three years of your life and you'll never have the answers. We just didn't work."

In the final days of their marriage, Lachey and Simpson escaped to Italy. They were hoping to flee the media scrutiny, their families, find out how it felt to be alone with each other, finally.

The first day was a nightmare.

"There was so much tension," recalls Lachey. "It was like hauling a gorilla around." So that evening he sat his wife down on the bed in their hotel suite in Florence, took her hand and said, "You are an angel, Jessica. You're just not my angel." It was, he says now, their last good time together.

"After I said that, the fucking weight of the world fell off our shoulders. We had the best week because for once we weren't trying to live up to people's expectations. We were alone for the first time in years."

It is his last day in New York, and Lachey is staring out the window of a friend's kitchen, watching the people on the street. A woman passes pushing a double stroller. A man sits alone in his car reading AARP magazine. A hipster shuffles along with his camera, pausing to snap photos of garbage. Lachey perches on the sill and begins to sing.

"All by myself," he warbles. "Don't wanna be, all by myself. Anymore."

He laughs. "That is a sad song. I'm gonna stop singing it."

But he doesn't. He goes on to the next verse, his voice filling the empty room.

"I believe I can be a good husband to somebody," he says. "I don't know when I'll meet her or who she'll be but I'm looking forward to finding her."

His eyes well up again. But this time, no tears fall.

  • Moby talks about Love

While Moby has plenty on his plate as far as film work goes, one thing he doesn't have on his schedule (yet) is producing the next Courtney Love record, although she has told some reporters that he is. Moby's previously remixed or produced Metallica, Britney Spears, Aerosmith, the Beastie Boys and Ozzy Osbourne, so he's certainly up for the challenge, but Love?

"I'm not sure we're working together," Moby said. "The truth is, I actually don't know. I mean, I've known Courtney for a long time, and I find her to be remarkably talented and just a fascinating person, so we might work on something together, but I don't know. It's just been some friendly conversations at this point."

Whether he ends up producing her follow-up to America's Sweetheart, Moby predicts that Love's new songs will "surprise" people, calling her demos "really powerful."

"It's actually really well-written songs that are very earnest, very passionate," he said. "So I'm sure she'll make a wonderful record. It's got a humble strength to it."

Moby also advises Love to keep that same humility when she turns her attention to licensing her late husband's catalog, based on his experience licensing so much of his own music (most famously, every track from Play).

"The majority of licensing I do is to small student films and independent films, but those aren't the ones people necessarily remember," he said. "At this point, because the music business is essentially falling apart, if you're a musician and you make a record and you want people to hear it, you have to explore a lot of avenues. But you sort of have to let your conscience be your guide."

  • Austin Nichols gets talent deal with HBO

Austin Nichols has inked a talent holding deal with HBO. Under the pact, Nichols will be cast in a drama or comedy series project for the premium cable channel. The deal is somewhat unusual for HBO, which rarely signs actors to holding deals.

Nichols recently appeared on HBO's drama "Deadwood" and the Walt Disney Pictures feature "Glory Road." His other credits include the features "Wimbledon" and "The Day After Tomorrow" and a multiple-episode arc on HBO's drama series "Six Feet Under."

Nichols is repped by UTA and Joan Green Management.

  • LL Cool J SLAMS Jay-Z's age comment

LL Cool J has hit back at Jay-Z for his comment that fans have no interest in hearing middle-aged rappers.

LL believes that there is no age-limit when it comes to making good music.

The 38-year-old has been making music for over 20 years and has just released an album featuring Jamie Foxx and Mary J Blige.

He explains, "Thank God I'm not 45, so I don't have to answer that question."

"Hopefully I'll be able to do music for a few more years and have some fun.

"I don't think there's an age limit. The dreams don't have deadlines.

"Just because you're younger than me doesn't mean you're cooler than me."

  • Kanye says he doesn't do 'Fast-Food' music

Kanye West has money, an expensive wardrobe, more talent than the law should allow, a cute girlfriend and some Grammys. He just needs one more thing: time.

'Ye said he definitely has something up his sleeve for a Michael Jackson collaboration if he can sync up schedules with M.J. And last year, he didn't make it onto his friend Twista's album because of time conflicts.

"I didn't have enough time to make it the way I make it," West said from Hawaii about his latest accomplishment, "Impossible." The track features West, Twista and the newest signee to Kanye's Good Music imprint, Keyshia Cole.

"If you notice, I don't do as many beats for people because I don't have enough time to make it how I make it," he said. "My beats is a whole new art form now. It's not just a 15-minute joint. It's not that fast-food sh--. You can tell 'Impossible' took hours."

Fifty hours, to be exact. While "Impossible" was left on the cutting-room floor for Twista's album, West found it to be the perfect offering to be used in "Mission: Impossible III" when Tom Cruise called and asked for a contribution. West also produced a reworking of the famous "Mission: Impossible" theme.

"It's hard," he said of the theme. "Like some DMX-sounding sh--. I chopped up the 'bomp, bomp, bomp-bomp,' but I couldn't think of no verse for it, so it's just an instrumental."

West has found time to work on Finding Forever, Common's next LP, which West already has predicted will win the Grammy for Rap Album of the Year in 2007.

"You will be happy with Finding Forever," he said. "We're halfway done. We're going to be dropping in September, and the first single is going to be called 'The Glory.' I'm just excited. I want to scream it from the top of the mountaintop."

Finding Forever will be the second album West has produced for Common, after last year's Be.

"We're back at home in the studio, talking sh-- about any and everything and doing music as a sidebar," he said. "We'd get in the studio and just talk sh--, and I'd be like, 'Oh, by the way, listen to this beat,' and we'd work on it. It was a real easy environment, and I might have a couple of beats off [my next album] Graduation [coming from the sessions]."

John Legend's second disc and Fonzworth Bentley's first will be released from West's Good Music imprint sometime this year, he added.

  • Angelina Jolie will play Lara again

Angelina Jolie is set to reprise her role as busty archaeologist Lara Croft in 'Tomb Raider 3'.
The actress - who is heavily pregnant - will start training for the role shortly after giving birth, despite once vowing she would never slip into Lara's skimpy costume again.

The character's creator Ian Livingston said: "Paramount has optioned it and Angelina has agreed to star in the third."

Angelina, who has two adopted children, four-year-old Maddox and baby Zahara, is said to be determined to get her body in shape for the part.

A source said: "Angelina is already in training to make sure she gets rid of her post-pregnancy bulge.

"She wants to be in tip-top shape and look better in Lara's outfit than ever."

  • Desperate no Longor(ia)

Eva Longoria insists she won't renew her contract with Desperate Housewives because she has her sites set firmly on Hollywood.

When asked how many more seasons of the drama she expected to be filmed, Eva said: "God, I hope not past our contract. Honestly, I think shows wear out their welcome.

"I don't want to be on [American TV series] Seventh Heaven - for 20 years and no one's really watching and it's hanging on by a thread.

Even now there's no amount of money that would make me decide something for a career. And I want to do movies anyway."

The affair will be held April 22 at the recently reopened Harlem Lanes Bowling Alley in New York, starting at 8 p.m.

  • Nick Lachey: "Joe Simpson Is Evil"

Somehow it doesn't feel dirty or unmanly that Nick Lachey is airing his laundry in public.

It's a relief and finally brings some closure to his whole wretched marriage that Lachey is finally talking openly and candidly in a new Rolling Stone interview about the demise of his relationship with Joe Simpson sorry Jessica.

"I'll tell you how I knew my marriage was over: I was told," says Lachey.

And, did Papa Joe play a role in the demise of his union?

"I don't pretend to understand Joe. .I don't know if he ever liked me. To this day I couldn't say. It was painful. Do I think Joe drove a rift between us? No. Was he an influence in our marriage? Absolutely."

Painful = sympathy for you Nick.

    Work it!

On rumors of Jessica's adultery, while not ruling them out Nick says:

"I don't know if there were other men. But if she did cheat, it was the result of something bigger, not the reason we didn't work. ... Sometimes I think it would be easier if I had just walked in the house and found her in bed with a guy. That would be clear-cut. End of story. I wouldn't have to deal with the uncertainty of adultery."

    She cheated!

Nicole Kidman ranked third.

  • Celebs hit Dublin

What an Easter weekend it was for Dublin's top nightclub Lillies Bordello with Hollywood Stars, Irish VIP's and the Westlife boys all enjoying the VIP venue over the holiday period.

Since changing ownership recently many thought that Lillies Bordello nightclub would quickly loose it's celebrity luster to competing VIP venues but in fact it's lure to stars has gone from strength-to-strength!

On Easter Sunday night the Westlife lads Shane Filan, Nicky Byrne, Mark Feehily and Kian Egan celebrated their 7 nights sold out in The Point Theatre with a party at the club.

We caught up with the handsome foursome as they strolled down Grafton Street towards the club in top spirits as they looked forward to their day-off.

Poor Shane Filan must have been strapped-for-cash to get in his round as he nipped over to the nearby Bank Machine to withdraw money before entering the club.

Cheeky Nicky Byrne joked with our photographer as he snapped Shane at the Banklink shouting: "Make sure you get his PIN number!"

The boys also posed with some very dedicated German fans Susanne Jahnke, Adrianna Nolpert, Christine Lewerent and Marina Johschies who bought tickets to attend ALL 7 nights in Dublin and will also head-on to see further Westlife shows in Manchester this week!

Hollywood star Stephen Dorff, who is filming "13" at Ardmore Studios, also turned up at the club with a few stunning ladies in his company including English actress Jaime Murray who just happens to be the daughter of Billy Murray (Johnny Allen from Eastenders).

  • Orlando Bloom hit someone with his car

British actor ORLANDO BLOOM apologised to a scooter rider who was almost killed in a road accident by writing him an autograph. THE LORD OF THE RINGS heart-throb was driving in London on Monday morning when he reportedly pulled out in front of swimming instructor SLAWOMIR SZYDLOWSKI, who was riding his motorcycle. Swimming instructor Szydlowski, 28, says, "It's only good luck that I'm here to tell the tale. He can't have looked in his mirrors. I flew off and hit the ground hard, rolling three times. If there'd been a car coming the other way, I'd be dead." When an ambulance arrived to whisk Szydlowski, who suffered deep cuts and internal bleeding, to hospital, Bloom jumped in the back and scribbled a note saying, 'Sorry mate!' and signed it. Szydlowski adds, "We both had to give breath tests. He did ring to check I was all right."

  • Samuel L. Jackson interview

There are snakes, 500 or so, from 5-inch vipers to a 20-foot python. There is a plane, a 747 going from Honolulu to LA with a witness who will testify against a mobster.

But don't let the title Snakes on a Plane, as bluntly descriptive and irresistibly trashy as a Cosmo come-on, overshadow who really is propelling this venomous vessel. The most valuable carry-on in the Aug. 18 thriller, a pre-release sensation is Shaft himself. The one and only Coach Carter. That holy terror of Pulp Fiction— Samuel L. Jackson.

What other summer star has the right cool insouciance and simmering rage to make this creepy-crawler worth its weight in reptile carnage? "The fans are going to love seeing Sam in this role," says Snakes director David R. Ellis of his human lead. He also has been a hero offscreen, deflecting any suggestion to switch the stupidly smart title to a generic disaster like Pacific Flight 121.

"The title was what got my attention," says Jackson, who plays the FBI agent protecting the witness. "I got on the set one day and heard they changed it, and I said, 'What are you doing here? It's not Gone with the Wind. It's not On the Waterfront. It's Snakes on a Plane!' They were afraid it gave too much away, and I said, "That's exactly what you should do. When audiences hear it, they say, 'We are there!' "

"It's interesting how they perceive you as an actor," Jackson says. "A whole faction thinks that I'm a bad (guy). I just happen to be in those kinds of films. I like to do sensitive movies, but they ignore those."

Additional scenes were shot in March with more gore, nudity and profanity so the PG-13 rating would become an R, the better to satisfy fan expectations. Best of all, Jackson gets to say his trademark obscenity in the new line: "I'm tired of these (bleeper-bleeping) snakes on this (bleeper-bleeping) plane."

No surprise that this tough bleeper isn't afraid of snakes. "I grew up in the country. If we saw a snake, the snake was in more trouble than we were." Nor do planes rattle him.

"I fly way too much to be afraid. I plug in my iPod and fall asleep. My wife is a white-knuckle flier. She will shake me and say, 'Oh, the plane is having turbulence.' I tell her, 'Wake me up when we crash.' "

  • Arctic Monkeys Defend EP Release

Arctic Monkeys have hit back at suggestions the band are being overmarketed ahead of their forthcoming EP release.

The Sheffield four-piece, who are currently in the middle of their UK tour, release 'Who The Fuck Are Arctic Monkeys?' on April 24.

Frontman Alex Turner claims that the band are not "cashing in" on the release and he defended the EP, reports the Dose website.

He said: "It's a mission statement, if you like. We want to do things our way, and people think it's arrogance, so it's inevitable some people will get tired of us."

The release comes just three months after the band unleashed their debut 'Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not', which has already gone on to become the fastest-selling album debut in UK chart history, and is currently pushing close to the million mark in record sales.

Nicole, a former model, filed for divorce Aug. 5 after 12 years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split. Their union had seemingly thrived (or at least survived) after some embarrassing legal problems for Mr. Murphy resulting from the notorious give-a-prostitute-a-lift episode in 1997.
