Kaiser Chiefs Live In Las Vegas

by lawsonjeff @ 2006-04-10 - 19:50:39

On the gig scene this week were a 5-peice from Leeds called The Kaiser Chiefs who also sold out their MGM Grand Theater gig.

Following two other up-and-coming bands, the Kaiser Chiefs took the stage--and immediately it was evident that this was gonna be one sweet show.

Each of the five members walked out wearing ultra colorful blazers--and though they all have very different looks and personalities (especially bass player Simon Rix, who looks to be a brunette version of Carrot Top), somehow the style worked for all of them. Opening with a crowd-pleasing song called "Na na na na naa," instantly the level of excitement in the room went up.

Throughout the rest of the show The Kaiser Chiefs played all of their hits and more music off of their debut album Employment. Other songs worth mentioning include a powerful rendition of "Caroline, Yes" and the fast-paced craziness of "Every day I love you less and less".

We reckon the celebrities which rolled into Las Vegas for the gig were really looking forward to the occasion as they didn't fail to let their hair down and party their boots off.

Our photographers could hardly keep up as stars poured into MGM's VIP doors for the gig.

We especially thought Danica Patrick enjoyed herself - at one stage we saw her snogging a busker who was playing outside the world-famous theater.

Carmen Electra was another star who seemed to be having the time of her life - after the party ended her husband Dave Navarro had to carry her on his back down to their hotel.

Colin Farrell was being so heavily bombarded by photographers on his arrival that he had a wall of security line up as he left and jumped into a waiting car with Joanna Krupa.

Jamie Foxx and Ashton Kutcher looked as if they were already in the party spirit after all the free champagne on-tap in the back of the car.

Foxx glad music career flopped

by lawsonjeff @ 2006-04-10 - 17:10:02

Jamie Foxx says he’s glad his music career flopped when he first launched it.

The Ray star released Peep This in 1994, but the album flopped and Foxx went into acting instead. However, after collaborating with Kanye West and releasing single Creepin’, Foxx has pursued his love of music.

He explained: “I always wanted to sing, but I’m glad I didn’t get the music career early because you never would have known me if I had. I probably would have done the Boyz II Men thing, singing slow songs and wearing linen.”

Motley Crue brings in pinch-drummer

by lawsonjeff @ 2006-04-10 - 16:39:21

It was a dream come true for a fan of Motley Crue. For one night, he filled in for injured drummer Tommy Lee.

Harvey Warren performed with the rock band Wednesday in Red Deer, Alberta, Motley Crue's publicist said. Lee had been playing with a brace, but a doctor ordered him to give his tendinitis a rest.

Warren, a Calgary resident who manages a Starbucks by day, moonlights as a drummer in the Motley Crue tribute band Broken Toyz.

Lee, 43, hopes to return for a concert Friday in Prince George. There are six dates left on the tour.

Keane to shoot video with author Irvine Welsh

by lawsonjeff @ 2006-04-10 - 16:31:10

KEANE are launching a comeback - with the strangest possible partner.

The squeaky clean trio have enlisted Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh to direct the first video from their new album.

It's the first time the writer has ever directed a pop video and the band admit they're taking a massive gamble.

But the trio - singer Tom Chaplin, keyboard player Tim Rice-Oxley and drummer Richard Hughes - reckon it's a risk worth taking.

Richard said: "We didn't want to just make a conventional pop video - we wanted to create a piece of music art.

by lawsonjeff @ 2006-04-10 - 16:20:39

Frances Bean Cobain, Courtney Love’s daughter with Kurt Cobain, has landed herself a summer job - but she’s not just going to be working at the local cafe or doing a paper round like most 13 year olds. Frances will spend the summer working at Stella McCartney’s designer store in New York.

An inside source has told the Daily Telegraph: “Stella knows how difficult it can be to have famous parents, so she’s keen to help out Kurt and Courtney Love’s daughter in any way she can.”

“Frances is 13 and dreams of a career in fashion, so this ought to be an interesting experience for her.”

Knightley Hits London Stage In "My Fair Lady"

by lawsonjeff @ 2006-04-10 - 16:18:37

British actress Keira Knightley is expected to hit London's West End in the challenging role of Eliza Doolittle in a stage production of My Fair Lady.

Knightley is reportedly "desperate" to play the cockney flower girl who is transformed into a well-spoken socialite, a part made famous by Audrey Hepburn in the 1964 screen adaptation.

And theatre mogul Sir Cameron Mackintosh, who produced the 2001 production starring UK soap star Martine Mccutcheon, is keen to consider the Pride And Prejudice beauty for his new version, despite her lack of theatre experience.

A pal says, "Keira was studying the script madly while filming the sequels to Pirates Of The Caribbean in the Bahamas. She is due to have a session with Sir Cameron's musical director in London. Keira is a huge fan of musicals and is desperate to do it."

by lawsonjeff @ 2006-04-10 - 15:40:00

Lindsay Lohan has lost out on the chance to be the face of Louis Vuitton, because French fashion house decided the Mean Girls beauty is "too American" for its global image.

Even the teenage pop star's friendship with Vuitton designer failed to swing the deal, and supermodel Naomi Campbell will front the campaign instead.

An insider says, "Marc is great mates with Lindsay and she loves his clothes so it was no surprise rumours were flying that he was pushing his French bosses to get her to star in their campaign.

"But they thought Lindsay too American for their global brand."

He revealed to a US magazine: "Strangely enough, it's not all hot girls sending me pictures.

"It's women over 60. The grandmothers are really aggressive too.

"It's flattering and I'm honoured to be called a sexy symbol but, for me, it's about the art."
