  • Tom Denies Katie's Tears

Tom Cruise has slammed reports that his fiancee Katie Holmes is suffering from post-natal depression. His words come after recent rumours that since the birth of Suri, Katie has constantly been in tears. But Tom's publicist claimed: "Those reports are not true. Ms Holmes is doing wonderfully." And if anyone should know it'd be Tom... He got into a celeb spat last year, after criticizing Brooke Shields for using anti-depressants to cope with her post-natal depression back in 2003. He said: "You can use vitamins to help a woman through those things." But his comments weren't appreciated by Brooke, who angrily retorted: "I'm going to take a wild guess and say that Mr Cruise has never suffered from post-partum depression. Tom should stick to saving the world from aliens and let women decide what treatment is best."

  • American Idol: What You Didn't See

Celebrities populated the stage during Wednesday's finale episode – but there was plenty of star power in the audience as well. Some highlights:

More than an hour before the start of the show, Bucky Covington's twin brother, Rocky, signs autographs and takes photos with fans – some of whom mistake him for Bucky – in front of the Kodak Theater.

In the ladies' room, Camryn Manheim explains to a friend what it was like to walk through the throng of fans in the lobby: "They screamed at me so I screamed back!"

Heather Locklear is in the audience with daughter Ava, 8. "Ava's a huge fan," a friend of Locklear's said. "She was so excited all day." Apparently, Ava's a McPhee fan while her mom is rooting for Hicks.

Primping in the ladies' room before showtime, Katharine McPhee's mom Peisha and sister Adriana gasp when Lisa Rinna walks in. The Dancing with the Stars runner-up tells them, "I'm a Katharine fan," and reassures Peisha: "Take it from someone who knows, sometimes losing is better than winning. … Tonight is about just having fun and celebrating."

Later, Rinna greets actress Lori Loughlin with hugs and kisses as young girls scramble for Rinna's autograph, ignoring her husband, Harry Hamlin, who's standing nearby with their kids.

David Hasselhoff said, "I'm voting for Katharine because she's from Sherman Oaks and that's where I live. Taylor's good too." He later tears up when Taylor Hicks is named the winner.

BFFs Chris Daughtry and Ace Young share a long, warm hug during the commercial break after performing in the all-male medley.

After Hicks performs a duet with Toni Braxton, the two walk offstage together hand in hand.

Just before the results are announced, McPhee waves cheerfully to her fans while Hicks stands stiff. After Hicks is named the winner, McPhee's parents blow kisses to her while Hicks sings his final song.

  • Taylor Hicks Wins American Idol

Taylor Hicks has been crowned the new American Idol.

Asked if he had anything to say to America, Hicks gave a shout-out to his most dedicated fans, yelling "Soul Patrol!"

Runner-up Katharine McPhee embraced Hicks and thanked her fans for an Idol experience she called "a dream come true." Then Hicks launched into his first single, "Do I Make You Proud?"

Announcing the results, Ryan Seacrest noted that "an astounding 63.4 million votes" were cast, "more than any President in this country has ever received."

After his win, Hicks told FOX news reporters, "It's an exhilarating feeling. I am flabbergasted. I can't believe I'm the next American Idol." He admitted that when his name was called he had to tell himself, "Don't just fall to the floor. Don't let your knees buckle."

The two-hour finale episode, which Seacrest said was being watched by 200 million people around the world, kicked off with Hicks, McPhee and the 10 booted finalists belting Barry Manilow's "I Made It Through the Rain."

In the many other musical numbers, Idol finalists dueted with established stars: Hicks with Toni Braxton, McPhee with Meat Loaf, Chris Daughtry with Live, Paris Bennett with Al Jarreau, Elliott Yamin with Mary J. Blige and, toward the end, all 12 finalists performed with Burt Bacharach and Dionne Warwick.

But the biggest show-stoppers were Clay Aiken, who debuted a jaw-dropping new hipster hairdo, and Prince, who performed two songs solo before an ecstatic audience.

Hicks's prize includes a $1 million recording contract and a Ford Mustang convertible, which McPhee also received.

  • Geri chooses wacky baby name

Former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell has named her newborn baby daughter Bluebell Madonna, it has been reported.

In an interview with Hello! magazine, Geri says she is "besotted" with her daughter and chose the name after seeing bluebells everywhere.

"But what really clinched it for me was my mother telling me that the bluebell is increasingly rare - so it's a precious flower, which seems just right for my daughter," Geri tells the magazine.

"There's a good reason I picked Madonna as a middle name too. As she came out of my tummy, Bluebell had both arms flung wide in the air as if announcing to the world, 'Hi! I'm here!'."

  • Viggo Mortensen is Good

Viggo Mortensen will star in an adaptation of CP Taylor's award-winning stage play Good to be directed by Vincente Amorin.

The story centers on a Germa professor in Frankfurt during the 1930s who allows himself to be seduced into the Nazi party. As he spirals down the vortex of the Reich, he rationalizes everything - his betrayal of his family and his Jewish friend as well as the morality he used to teach. Finally, standing in SS uniform at Auschwitz, he becomes a symbol of man's ability to slide down the path to evil. Jason Isaacs and Mark Stong also star. Shooting is scheduled to begin next year from a script by John Wrathall.

Mortensen last starred in David Cronenberg's A History of Violence. He next reteams with Cronenberg on Eastern Promises alongside Naomi Watts.

  • Seventh 'Potter' book out in 2007

Harry Potter publisher, Bloomsbury, claims the final installation in the series should be out in 2007.

The statement comes from the company's Director of Publishing, Liz Calder, who made the prediction whilst on a visit to India.

At the British Council’s Creative Future conference, Calder reportedly spoke about J.K. Rowling's future, as well as the ever-popular novels: "One more Harry Potter only but she (Rowling) said from the beginning that she would write seven. So she would not write another one after this. But Rowling would write other books for us."

”The next Harry Potter book is likely to come out in 2007. I hope so.”

  • Brad's bike ride called wheely big mistake

Spears, who has been blasted for putting her baby, Sean, at risk during recent car trips, has some company now that safety watchdogs are nipping at Pitt.

Thursday, the actor went out for a bicyle ride in Langstrand, Namibia, with son Maddox Pitt-Jolie, 4, and daughter Zahara Pitt-Jolie, 16 months.

Maddox, who wore a helmet, peddled a tricyle. Zahara, who did not, rode in a blue papoose strapped to Brad's back. That's a no-no, according Debra Smiley Holtzman, author of "The Safe Baby."

"[Zahara] needs a helmet and closed-toe shoes," Holtzman tells Us Weekly, which features photos of the outing in its new issue. "And I highly recommend toddlers ride in a child trailer pulled by a bike. It's more stable and secure."

Baby Talk senior editor Christina Vercelletto agreed.

Makers of the baby-pack "specifically say, 'Do not use while riding a bike,'" Vercelletto told us. "[It] will affect your balance. The safest place for her would be in a toddler bike seat."

Pitt's rep had no immediate comment on the scolding. Maybe the kiddie-caboose hasn't reached Namibia, where Pitt and Angelina Jolie are awaiting their first biological child.

Pitt Tuesday sent word from Africa that, because of the baby's "imminent arrival," he couldn't join castmates Cate Blanchett and Gael García Bernal at the Cannes Film Fest premiere of "Babel."

  • 3LW Set to Release Their Third Anticipated Album

3LW are back with their third LP, POINT OF NO RETURN, set to be released in the US August 15th. The group has had early success with their 1999 single "No More" and that debut album garnered them with not only the Best New R&B Artist at the 2001 Lady of Soul Awards but also Album of the Year at the show!

After a four-year hiatus, Kiely Williams (19), Adrienne Bailon (21), and Jessica Benson (18), are getting reacquainted with their loyalists with their third album, Point of No Return, a light-hearted, party starter that signifies the genesis of their young adulthood. Although 3LW fans have been fortunate to witness Kiely and Adrienne growing up on the small screen as Aqua and Chanel in Disney's The Cheetah Girls series, it's the group's latest musical effort that offers a glimpse into their evolution as artists and women. "The album's title also speaks to our personal growth in our careers," says Adrienne. "We're no longer teenagers and our decision to return to music is challenging and unpredictable, but there's no turning back."

Their new single "Feelin' You" is the first from their upcoming album and is due to impact radio June 19. The track, produced by well known super- producer Jermaine Dupri, who is also a featured guest on the track, is a confessional party starter and expresses a woman's innermost sentiments about that special someone. The video, directed by Billie Woodruff, will hit the video channels in June as well. In addition to Jermaine Dupri, the album was recorded with the help from producers Scott Storch (Mario, Chris Brown), Dre and Vidal (Ciara, Chris Brown) and Rich Harrison (Amerie, Beyonce).
