  • Kingston James McGregor Rossdale

Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale welcomed the arrival of Kingston James McGregor Rossdale, 7.5 lbs on May 26, 2006.

"Sources at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles confirm to Us that Gwen Stefani gave birth to a baby boy shortly before 1 p.m. on Friday.

After the C-section delivery, Stefani’s husband, Gavin Rossdale, and Stefani’s father walked out of the operating room and greeted family waiting in a private room. Rossdale announced that the baby had been born and the entire room started screaming and clapping. Sources say the rocker parents are considering calling their son (who was born with a thick thatch of hair) Kingston, or “King” for short.

The couple arrived at Cedars-Sinai this morning, where Rossdale dropped his wife off at the maternity ward, parked Stefani’s silver Range Rover and “seemed a little nervous and checked the baby car seat before he got out,” according to a witness. Rossdale then took the elevator to the maternity ward. “Gwen was wearing her signature red lipstick and looked so excited,” the onlooker added.

Stefani, 36, announced her pregnancy last December during the final concert stop of her solo tour. “This is the end of a huge chapter for me,” she said at the time. Her tour completed, the singer spent the remainder of her pregnancy relaxing, swimming, and getting weekly manicures and pedicures near her Los Feliz home in Los Angeles, California.

The couple met in 1995 when Stefani’s band No Doubt opened for Rossdale’s former band Bush. They married in September 2002 in two separate ceremonies in London and Los Angeles. Rossdale, 38, has a 16-year old daughter, Daisy Lowe from a previous relationship.

  • Nicks New Girl

Just three weeks before his divorce with ex-wife Jessica Simpson, 25, is set to be finalized, Nick Lachey, 32, was spotted on a date in Westwood, CA, on May 24, with his latest fling, girlfriend Kim Kardashian, 25. The two were seen checking out an afternoon screening of The Da Vinci Code, their first official outing together as a couple. “They were holding hands throughout most of the movie, and shared popcorn and a drink,” an eyewitness tells Life & Style. “She was resting her head on his shoulder during the movie. It was definitely a date.” Afterwards, Nick dropped Kim off at her Beverly Hills house and went inside, staying for about half an hour.

As Life & Style first exclusively reported, Kim — daughter of late O.J. Simpson lawyer Robert Kardashian — started seeing Nick in April. Insiders close to the couple confirm that the two have been quietly going out for almost two months. ”It’s real, it’s more than a one time thing,” one insider tells Life & Style. “They’ve been keeping it very low profile, just going to friends houses and small restaurants.”

Nick has been no stranger to the dating world since ending his three year marriage with Simpson. Flings with former Miss Kentucky Elizabeth Arnold, 26 Laguna Beach’s Kristin Cavallari, 19, and MTV VJ Vanessa Minnillo, 25, along with the release of his What’s Left of Me album have kept the new bachelor busy. So can Kim keep his attention? “He definitely likes her,” the insider says. “It’s not just a one time thing.”

  • Coppola Defends 'Marie-Antoinette'

Director Sofia Coppola has hit back at critics who mauled her new movie Marie-Antoinette as an attempt to Americanize French history. Coppola's film chronicles the life of the tragic French queen during the revolution in the 1790s. It has been criticized for its American pop video feel, but Coppola insists she wanted to accentuate the youthful slant to the story. She says, "I wasn't making a political movie about the French revolution, I was making a portrait of Marie-Antoinette and my opinions are in the film. We modernized certain things that were relate-able to me and a modern audience. The story is about teenagers in Versailles, so I wanted it to have that energy of youth and teenage feeling to it."

  • Spears and Federline split, say reports

Britney Spears and Kevin Federline's relationship has "totally broken down", according to reports.

Friends of the singer revealed that she tried to save the relationship, but had now banished Federline to a basement "bachelor" apartment.

"She wanted to wait, but their relationship has become so hostile she just doesn't see how she can make it work," one explained. Another added: "Their relationship has totally broken down. Britney desperately wanted it to work and still does for the sake of their family, but she has had enough of him and the awful friends he hangs around with.

"But rather than move out, she has ordered him down to a separate flat in their basement. They have in effect divided their house."
