  • Crazy Cruise News

TOM CRUISE and KATIE HOLMES closed off a public toilet in Hollywood yesterday when they were caught short at a little league baseball game. The couple was watching a game featuring Cruise's son CONNOR when they needed to take a toilet break. Bodyguards made sure the public loo was empty before the couple stepped inside. The minders then waited outside as the pair relieved themselves. The couple welcomed baby SURI into the world last month.

Tom Cruise has banned his children from watching TV or playing computer games so they learn the importance of work.

The Mission Impossible star has two children – Isabella, 13 and Connor, 11 - with his ex-wife Nicole Kidman in addition to his new child with Katie Holmes, and is determined to strictly monitor what they do with their spare time.

He tells Ireland's Evening Echo, “The kids have no computer games. And absolutely no television. None. They can listen to music and read just about any book they want, and they can choose the movies they want to see on the weekends, within reason.

"They also have chores, because I want them to know that it's important to work. I had a job when I was eight years old delivering newspapers.

"So for me, it's like, 'You want a clean room? Then you've got to clean your room. No one is going to do it for you.'"

  • STERN says Les Moonves is "...one of the biggest jerks on the planet"

Shock jock Howard Stern regained control of the master tapes from the last 20 years of his terrestrial radio program in a Friday settlement of the contentious lawsuit brought by his former bosses at CBS Radio.

Stern's new employer, Sirius Satellite Radio Inc., agreed to pay $2 million to CBS Radio in return for the rights to the classic recordings, according to a statement released by both sides.

"As part of the settlement, CBS Radio will receive payments relating to the conveyance of its rights in the recordings of `The Howard Stern Show,'" the statement read. "Sirius, for its part, will make a total payment of $2 million related to this conveyance."

The remaining details of the settlement remained confidential, according to the statement.

CBS spokesman Dana McClintock declined to make any further comment, and Stern's agent, Don Buchwald, did not immediately return a call about the settlement.

CBS Radio sued Stern in February, the latest salvo in an escalating battle between the corporation and its former star employee. The company claimed Stern had violated his contract by improperly using his airtime on CBS stations to promote his January 2006 move to Sirius.

Stern "misappropriated millions of dollars' worth of CBS Radio air time for his own financial benefit," the 43-page lawsuit charged.

Stern also discussed his plans with Sirius without disclosing them to CBS, as required by his contract, the lawsuit said.

Stern angrily responded by attacking CBS chief executive officer Les Moonves. The shock jock, in an appearance with David Letterman on "Late Show," wore an "I Hate Les Moonves" T-shirt decorated with the executive's face.

"I believe you are working for one of the biggest jerks on the planet," Stern told Letterman, whose show airs on CBS. "Les Moonves is a bully."

Stern, 50, was the anchor of CBS's radio division with his nationally syndicated morning show until he bolted for satellite radio in January under a five-year, $500 million contract. Lawyers on both sides confirmed the settlement on Wednesday, but no details emerged until the statement was released two days later.

During the last months of his terrestrial radio show, Stern battled constantly with his bosses and was suspended for a day over his alleged promotion of Sirius.

"There is no question that some people are very offended by elements of the story."

A teen magazine has cancelled US R&B singer Chris Brown's appearance at its annual model search gig in western Sydney because of safety concerns.

The decision by Girlfriend to can Saturday's gig came after 17-year-old Brown was forced to cut short a performance at Westpoint Blacktown when things turned ugly.

"Due to overwhelming attendance at Chris Brown's performance at Blacktown last night, and Westfield Parramatta's concerns about accommodating the expected increase in crowd size, Girlfriend has decided, as a precautionary measure, to cancel Chris Brown's appearance at the ... event," the publication said in a statement.

Bill Gerber, the producer of last year's The Dukes of Hazzard, says that he is working on a prequel to the movie that brought Simpson (and her rear view) film fame – and he thinks Cavallari, 19, would fill out those Daisy Duke shorts quite nicely.

Why not just stick with Simpson, 25? "It's a prequel, like Batman (Begins)," he says. "We're going for a whole new cast."

Simpson and husband Nick Lachey, 32, announced in November 2005 that they were separating. In March, Lachey and Cavallari were spotted flirting at various restaurants and parties – although Cavallari said, "There's nothing to talk about, there's nothing going on. To take place July 31 to Aug. 6, the festival will be two days longer than its predecessor and feature about twice as many films nearly 50 in total.
