The sex video made by R Kelly around which 14 counts of child pornography revolve will be made viewable for the media and the public.

Judge Vincent Gaughan ruled that there was no "overarching interest" in banning the tape, in which the hip-hop star is allegedly having sex with a minor.

He reportedly said "This is the whole crux and linchpin of the case. If there was no tape, we wouldn't have a case."

Both sides initially believed that, in order to prevent casting further shame onto the girl, the tape should only be shown to jurors and the judge.

Oprah Says She Doesn't Have Beef With Hip-Hop

by lawsonjeff @ 2006-06-13 - 13:35:51

Oprah Winfrey says it's time to stop the hullabaloo: She's got no beef with hip-hop.

"I'm not opposed to rap," the mogul said Saturday in Manhattan while celebrating L.A. Reid's 50th birthday with Jay-Z, Young Jeezy, Babyface, Janet Jackson and Ciara.

The question of whether or not Winfrey likes hip-hop arose in recent weeks after Ludacris and Ice Cube alleged that they've been mistreated by her. Luda says some of his comments about hip-hop lyrics were unfairly edited out of Oprah's show when he went on late last year to promote "Crash." Ice Cube says Winfrey insulted him several years ago after inviting castmembers of "Barbershop" on her program but excluding him.

"Maybe she's got a problem with hip-hop," Ice Cube told FHM magazine recently. "She's had damn rapists, child molesters and lying authors on her show. And if I'm not a rags-to-riches story for her, who is?"

50 Cent has also publicly scoffed at Oprah, saying she doesn't make efforts to appeal to hip-hop fans.

"I don't have an opinion, because I am my own person," Oprah said on the birthday party's red carpet. "I respect other people's rights to do whatever they want to do in music and art and whatever. So I am my own person, they are their own people. I respect their rights.

"I am a woman who has worked very hard for my status in the world and as a human being," she added. "I don't want to be marginalized by music or any form of art. ... I feel rap is a form of expression, as is jazz. I'm not opposed to rap. I'm opposed to being marginalized as a woman."

Early last week, Ludacris, while promoting the basketball documentary "Heart of the Game," said that despite the rumors, he is not calling for a boycott of Winfrey's show. He said he would go back on the program if it were filmed live. He also said Oprah should invite a gaggle of MCs on at one time to have an intelligent discussion about hip-hop.

Katharine McPhee Interview

by lawsonjeff @ 2006-06-13 - 09:14:25

Katharine McPhee’s dream has come true. This year’s “American Idol” runner-up said she wanted to include “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” in her CD single. The song, from “Wizard of Oz,” carried her through to the season’s finals, where she faced eventual winner Taylor Hicks in the final face-off.

The 22-year-old Kat just inked a record deal with producer Clive Davis. In a recent conference call (arranged by Star World) she said she wanted to make a pop album. Her CD singer, due for release on June 27, includes... guess what? And also the song, “My Destiny,” which was written for her and which she performed for the first time on stage during the finale.

Less than a month later, this gorgeous girl from Sherman Oaks, California has clinched important singing jobs outside of “Idol.” She is singing with Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli in three of his US tour concert series, which started June 9.

She enthused, “I just love waking up and having people there [waving] a paper in front of me and [saying], ‘Okay, you’re doing this.’ That’s just so exciting to be busy and to get paid for doing stuff that you love.”

What’s the album going to be like?

Probably a little bit like Top 40. I think if I were to do bluesy-jazzy stuff with all the standards, I would do that more as a theme album.

A few of your fellow finalists were somewhat relieved when leaving the show. Does being runner-up give you a little more freedom, less pressure?

Absolutely. I was so at peace with whatever was going to happen, even before Taylor and I had our top-two showdown. There are so many things I want to do other than music.

How did you feel about Simon Cowell unofficially declaring Taylor Hicks the winner before results night?

I thought to myself, if Taylor wins, that’s what was meant to be. But I did [wonder], maybe my fans will vote more. I did actually get to sit down with some of my fans. They were like, “We voted four hours straight.”

How nervous were you during finals night?

I was definitely nervous, especially when the results came in. It’s just... something I couldn’t control. I didn’t expect anything. I was really happy to just be there and represent the West Coast as the only girl left in the competition.

Did Steven Spielberg really ask to meet with you?

Well, there’s not really much I can divulge about that. All I can say is, if anything, it’s probably [going to be] just a meeting... nothing has been clarified.

What’s been the best thing, so far, about being famous?

The fact that I get really cool clothes to wear and stuff like that. I’m such a girly girl.

How does it feel to continue to work with the other finalists on the “American Idol” tour?

It feels great. We’re such a fun group. There are so many different personalities, like from Bucky to Kellie. We laugh a lot. I think we’re going to put on a great show—that’s what it’s really about.

Who among the finalists do you most enjoy working with?

I really love Chris. He’s always been really fun and easy going. Mandisa is always great to work with because she’s just so positive all the time and is always laughing. And I just like to be around people that are, overall, very positive and makes things more fun than they really are. But everyone was so great.

What will you do with your money—are you newly rich?

I don’t even know if I’m rich. But I really would love to have my own place. Right now, I’m still living with the “Idols.” I hope to be going home to my own apartment. I’m 22; it’s time to move out.

Taking to the stage in a stylish one-shoulder black dress and red lippy, she was greeted with a massive cheer and standing ovation.

Then when she belted out the chorus of her favourite Dannii song, Jump To The Beat, the crowd went crazy.

Dannii was at the club to celebrate the launch of her Greatest Hits CD, and Kylie told the gathered fans:

"I want to say a special congratulations to Dannii. I love you so much and I'm so proud of you."

One of the gathered fans said: "Kylie raised the roof when she came on. She danced with Dannii and seemed thrilled to be in the thick of it.

"She only sang a few lines, but it was great to see her back."

Aniston's Phone Call Dismissed By Brangelina

by lawsonjeff @ 2006-06-13 - 08:51:09

Jennifer Aniston attempted to make the call to show she had no hard feelings and that she wished Brad and his new family all the best, but it blew up in her face.

A source told Grazia magazine: “She thought it was the right thing to do. But she couldn’t get her call accepted. Jennifer thinks Angelina has changed Brad and made him as insensitive and uncaring as she is.”

“As far as Jennifer is concerned, not taking her phone call was the last straw. She had intended to be civilised and be nice but Brad and Angelina don’t seem to want to do that.”

Jennifer Aniston is currently touring the globe with her new partner Vince Vaughn to promote their new film; box office hit ‘The Break-Up’.

Lachey Shocked By Gay Question

by lawsonjeff @ 2006-06-13 - 08:44:37

Lachey says, "I was asked if I'd ever consider playing for the other team, which was a 'Ooh, I'm not expecting that one.'

by lawsonjeff @ 2006-06-13 - 08:32:29

She's given her a tongue-lashing just days after slagging off Girls Aloud star Cheryl Tweedy.

In Step... Cheryl 'N Posh

by lawsonjeff @ 2006-06-13 - 08:28:15

Cheryl Tweedy and Victoria Beckham looked like a couple of well-groomed extras from the Hollywood flic The Stepford Wives as they headed out together yesterday.

The beautiful duo were so well turned out and in time with each other that onlookers suggested Posh, 32, and Cheryl, 22, looked like the roboctic clones in the movie.

One stunned England fan said: "They were walking in step. It was like seeing double but i've had a few drinks."

David Beckham's missus and Ashley Cole's fiancee were among a group of England wives and girlfriends who splashed out thousands of pounds in just an hour in the shops near the teams hotel in Baden-Baden.

Burton already is talking with Johnny Depp for the lead role as the Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Paramount sources said.

Brit loves how stupid and "simple" her husband is

by lawsonjeff @ 2006-06-13 - 08:19:22

Britney Spears, who is pregnant with her second child, says her marriage is rock-solid.
Kevin Federline, her husband, "has a really big heart," Spears, 24, tells Matt Lauer in an interview airing Thursday on NBC's Today (7 a.m. ET/PT) and Dateline (9 p.m. ET/PT). She says Federline, 28, is an "amazing" husband and says it's his "simplicity" that makes her love him: "He's just like a boy."

She says Federline is supportive and "helps me. He has to. I'm an emotional wreck right now."

Raw nerves surface when Spears gets emotional as she pleads with the paparazzi to "realize that we're people and we ... need privacy and respect."

Spears decided to speak out now because she feels like a "target" for tabloids, which she says have "crossed the line" with intrusive stories and photos.
