Paul McCartney has blamed Heather Mills' "unreasonable behaviour" for their marriage split.
As formal divorce proceedings began this week, the former Beatle is said to have described Mills as "argumentative" and "rude to staff".
Despite his claims, McCartney has told friends that he wants the divorce to be as simple as possible so he will be able to make a "clean break".
A friend told The Mirror, "He has stipulated there will be no tears and tantrums, just a clean break. Paul just wants to get this over as quickly and cleanly as possible and put the whole sorry episode behind him."
A spokesperson for Heather has admitted that the former model is unhappy with her estranged husband's claims and will file court papers which tell her side of the story.
"Heather's going to be filing her own counter-claims about matters both in this country and America," she said. "Any view she has on her divorce will be handled discreetly. She does not feel the need to repudiate claims that she may be headstrong or feisty.
"She is hugely disappointed that matters of such a confidential nature should be aired in public and feels it is inappropriate to speak about such delicate matters when a child is involved."
