Sugababes were close to splitting after Mutya Buena decided to quit the group.

Heidi Range and Keisha Buchanan were convinced by their manager Mark Hargreaves to take on new member Amelle Berrabah.

"It was a complete shock to Keisha and I and we thought at one stage, that's it - we're going to split up," Heidi said. "We really didn't know what was going to happen."

Keisha added: "It was a bittersweet time. I was upset Mutya had gone - we'd known each other since she was nine - but really happy Amelle could join us. That was nine months ago and the change has been good. We're doing as well as ever."

Jude Law has angered on-off lover Sienna Miller yet again.

The Alfie actor allowed ex-wife Sadie Frost to move into his home with their children while her own pad was being redecorated. As Jude is away filming in the US, he apparently told Sadie that she could sleep in his bed, infuriating Sienna.

A friend revealed: "Sienna was furious. She couldn't believe Jude would let Sadie stay in the main bedroom."

Jackie Doherty has spoken openly about her son Pete in an interview for the first time.

"I remember being so proud of my children who were bright," she told The Times. "They would never take drugs or break the law; they were past their teenage years and we'd sailed through those without a hitch."

"We haven't suffered as much as other families of junkies," she added. "Pete's never stolen from us, never beaten us for money, never brought trouble to our door."

Jackie's book about the Babyshambles frontman, titled Pete Doherty: My Prodigal Son, is published on 11 September.

Evangeline Lilly is creating a self-defence video for young girls.

The Lost actress, who plays Kate Austen in the hit US show, decided to make the most of her reputation as a tomboy for the project.

A friend told the Daily Record: "Evie thought it was great that she could appear in this little film when they were in Hawaii.

"She is a really outdoorsy, rough-and-tumble kind of girl and she wants to be able to show other girls that it is good to be able to stand up for yourself."

Guy Concerned Over Madonna's Tour Safety

by lawsonjeff @ 2006-08-20 - 09:54:00

Guy Ritchie is concerned about Madonna's decision to take her Confessions tour to Russia.

The pop queen is said to have received sinister threats to kidnap her, son Rocco and daughter Lourdes, but insists that she still wants to perform in Moscow.

A source said: "Madonna is well aware of the kidnap threats but she is brave and even a little nonchalant when it comes to her own safety. Guy is seriously concerned and has made it clear that security has to be tightened, just to be on the safe side.

“Madonna doesn’t anticipate any problems herself but Guy isn’t convinced. Her tour director, Chris, has been on edge after being informed about the threats. He has made changes to security to increase the protection around her on tour.

“Madonna has made a firm plea for Guy and security bosses to relax but they are refusing to overlook the problem.”

The singer has sparked controversy by including a mock-crucifixion scene in the tour.

A friend revealed: “Andy has been down ever since he left the group. He’s been at home most days watching telly while the band are on tour. He just doesn’t seem interested in anything.”
