Angelina Jolie took the time yesterday afternoon to visit her mom, French actress Marcheline Bertrand, at L’Ermitage Hotel in Beverly Hills before leaving the country. (Marcheline is reportedly battling cancer and undergoing chemotherapy sessions.) Angelina will be traveling to India within the next few weeks for a reported month-long trip to shoot the upcoming film A Mighty Heart — she plays Marianne Pearl, the wife of the slain Wall Street Journal journalist Daniel Pearl.

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes were out for some fine dining last night at CUT, Wolfgang Puck’s steakhouse at the Beverly Regent in Beverly Hills. Tom and Katie took the night to hammer out details for their upcoming nuptials. Here are the reported deets: Katie has tapped Carolina Herrerra to design a one-of-a-king A-line dress with a mile-long train and Tom will have his 11-year-old son Connor as his best man.

Life and Style Weekly also speculate that Tom and Katie will star in an upcoming film together: “Tom is looking for a movie that will make the most of their chemistry. Hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons is trying to sell his 10-bedroom New Jersey mansion for more than $20 million.

The sprawling, 35,000-square-foot house includes a great room with 35-foot ceilings, a dining room with gold-leaf ceiling, a gym and a "Versace room," which features a Gianni Versace-designed bed and a 16-foot-high fireplace in the shape of a lion's mouth. The house, built in 1996 by apparel executive Arnold Simon, includes a movie theater built by Mr. Simon and modeled after the Loews Pitkin, an old Brooklyn, N.Y., picture palace, complete with popcorn and candy counters, a brightly lit marquee and a wax figure selling tickets. The four-acre property, with indoor and outdoor pools, a waterfall and a koi pond, is about 25 miles north of Manhattan in Saddle River, a Bergen County suburb that was home to Richard Nixon in his later years.

Anna Nicole Smith married her long-time attorney and close confidante, Howard K. Stern, this morning at 10:30 am in Nassau, Bahamas. The wedding occurred only 18 days after the death of Anna's son Daniel, 20, from an accidental drug overdose in her Nassau hospital room on September 10.

In a world-exclusive report, an eyewitness tells Star that Anna, 38, and Howard, 37, tied the knot at 10:30 am on the morning of September 28, on a 50-foot catamaran anchored off Blackbeard's Cay in Nassau! "There was heavy security around the yacht, plus extra speedboats to deliver more supplies as needed (including unlimited Dom Perignon champagne) from the island to the catamaran," says the eyewitness, who adds that the wedding party celebrated the union afterwards by having a swim party around the yacht — "and Anna was wearing a pink bikini!"

Two days before, on September 26, Stern appeared live on the Larry King Show via satellite from the Bahamas, to announce that he was the father of Anna's newborn daughter Danilynne Hope, that he and Anna "love each other" — and that the duo would get married "at some point."

Apparently, that point arrived much sooner than later. A source adds: "Stern was making all the arrangements in the days before the wedding."

This is apparently Stern's first marriage, but the third for Smith. She was a teen bride with Billy Wayne Smith (Daniel's father) in Texas in 1985; they divorced two years later. Smith then married 89-year-old oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall in June 1994. He died in 1990, and Anna — who recently became a legal resident of the Bahamas — is still battling in court for her share of his estate.

Avril Lavigne is worse than an angry llama. The singer took out yet another photographer with a deadly shot of spit last night -- this time hitting the man square in the face.

After celebrating her 22nd birthday at Hyde, the wannabe punk-rocker unleashed a torrent of "f*** yous" to the paparazzi and autograph seekers, even signing the pleasant greeting on some pictures.

Avril and her entourage then made their way to the safety of their SUV, where she rolled the window down and loaded up a liquid projectile in her mouth. Russell Brand has admitted he auditioned to be in a boy band - but failed thanks to his "rubbish" performance.

The comedian and host put the choice down to a mixture of youth and chemicals and said it was embrassing as could be.

“I did audition for a boy band," he confessed. "That was pretty bad. I was only 20, I didn’t know what I was doing and I was on drugs. I did some pretty crazy things on those drugs.

“We had the choice of singing Robbie Williams’ 'Angels' or that George Michael song, 'Faith'. I’d been in the toilet drinking to calm my nerves so I was probably all red and blustery and a little plump and rubbish.”

“I decided I’d be less self-conscious if I held a water bottle and pretended it was my mic," added the star. "It really was terribly embarrassing.”

But Brand added that he had now recovered and could not seem himself along the likes of the newly-reformed Five. He commented: “Imagine me with Abs, Doc, Sneazy and the other guys.”

More rumours have emerged surrounding George Clooney's relationships.

One report in the New York Post has suggested the actor is back with Renée Zellweger, with whom he had a relationship several years ago.

The pair were spotted having a romantic meal at the Los Angeles Sunset Tower Hotel, according to the report. A witness told the paper: "They cuddled, held hands and then slow danced to piano music."

Another recent report had suggested Clooney was dating another actress, Ellen Barkin, but that rumour has been strenuously denied.

"She couldn't possibly have time for that," her spokesman said, joking: "She hasn't finished dating the rest of the cast of Ocean's Thirteen yet."

A source told the Daily Mail that Barkin was actually seeing a former model and bouncer called Johnny Zander.

Naomi Campbell has been warned she will be arrested if she fails to attend a court hearing next month.

The supermodel missed an appearance at Manhattan Criminal Court regarding the allegation that she threw a phone at her housekeeper.

Her lawyer David Breitbart refused to explain the no-show and said he understood the risk if she did not make it to her next court date.

"She could not turn up at court today but I am not at liberty to divulge why. She is very concerned at the outcome of the case," he said. "And she understands that if she does not appear at this court in November a warrant will be issued for her arrest."

Campbell has denied second degree assault over the alleged incident. Ana Scolavino claims the model accused her of theft then threw a jewel-encrusted Blackberry mobile phone at her head.

Jake Gyllenhaal and Reese Witherspoon are in final negotiations to star in the next film from the director of the Oscar-winning South African feature "Tsotsi."

"Rendition" revolves around a CIA analyst based in Cairo whose world spins out of control after he witnesses the interrogation of a foreign national by the Egyptian secret police. Gyllenhaal will play the analyst, while Witherspoon will play the pregnant American wife of the national.Gavin Hood will direct the New Line Cinema project from a script by Kelly Sane. Shoots are planned for Los Angeles, Washington, Morocco and South Africa starting in November.

Gyllenhaal most recently appeared in "Jarhead" and next stars in "Zodiac," directed by David Fincher.Witherspoon won a best actress Oscar this year for starring as June Carter Cash in "Walk the Line." She next appears in "Penelope," a fable on which she served as a producer.

Hood's urban crime drama "Tsotsi" won the Oscar this year for foreign-language film.

Charges against Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje were dropped yesterday in District Court after defense attorneys proved the actor in the ABC television series "Lost" has a driver's license.

Akinnuoye-Agbaje was charged with driving without a license and disobeying a police officer after he was taken into custody Sept. 2 in Waikiki.

Following his arrest, Akinnuoye-Agbaje, who plays Mr. Eko on "Lost," spent about six hours in jail before being released on $500 bail.

Two other "Lost" cast members, Michelle Rodriguez and Cynthia Watros, were arrested for drunken driving in November 2004. Both pleaded guilty last year.

The blonde star, the sister of "Dukes of Hazzard" actress Jessica, admits she goes weak at the knees for guys from the UK, because they are so charming.

She said: "They are really sexy, I like their accents."

It seems her father and manager Joe approves of her taste in men and has given Ashlee, 21, the green light to pursue a guy from across the pond.

Joe said: "I certainly approve of Englishmen."

X Factor judge Simon Cowell dashed to his mother’s hospital bedside after she was struck by a car, it emerged today.

The TV star’s mother, Julie Cowell, 80, was left badly injured when the vehicle reversed into her.

The former dancer has a suspected broken hip and could face a hip replacement operation following Friday’s accident.

Cowell’s mother telephoned him after the incident and he went straight to her hospital bedside.

He stayed there the next day, watching X Factor with her before flying to the US to start filming a new series of American Idol.

Cowell’s publicist Max Clifford said: “She’s a very sprightly 80-year-old. She still goes to aerobics every week so she’s very fit.”

Cowell told The Sun newspaper: “When I heard, I was worried to death. But she is as strong as an ox and her attitude was a bit like, ‘What’s all the fuss about?’

“I was obviously relieved she is fine and already planning her 100th birthday party.”

The supermodel delighted the sell-out crowd by taking to the stage at Pete's first show since he checked out of rehab for drug addiction.

Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria is so busy with her career and relationship with basketball player boyfriend Tony Parker, she had her real estate agent pick out a house and buy it for her.

Longoria instructed her realtor to select only one house and she bought it on the spot without looking at any other options.

She explains, "I just bought a new house just down the street from where I live. It was literally down the street.

"I told my realtor show me a house and they did and they go, 'Why don't you look at one more?' And I said, 'Oh, my God!'

"I'm lazy when it comes to stuff like that. I just want to move in and sleep!"

Martha Stewart wants Eminem to appear on her “Martha” TV show. Not because he can knit or bake brownies but because audience members love his music.

“We play his music during breaks to keep people very lively and they love him,” Stewart told AP Radio in a recent interview.

“I would really love to have Eminem on the show,” the 65-year-old lifestyle guru said. “I don’t think he knows that my demographic audience is so involved in Eminem music.”

Stewart also said she’s not good at everything.

“I can’t pick up a guitar and play a fantastic song. ... I cannot sit down at a piano and do that,” she said. “I’m happy about my knowledge in so many different subjects relating to living, but in terms of specifics, I don’t know if I’d be really very good on ‘The Young and the Restless.”’

However, Stewart does have a wild side.

She licked David Letterman’s jelly covered finger when he pretended to cut himself during a cooking segment with her on CBS’ “Late Show With David Letterman.”

JENNIFER ANISTON is making her stage debut on Broadway next month. The star will appear in The 6th Annual 24 Hour Plays in New York on Monday Oct. 23. Russell Crowe wants to play Steve Irwin in a film based on the life of the ‘Crocodile Hunter’. The Oscar-winning australian actor - who has repeatedly spoken of his affection for friend Steve after he was tragically killed, aged just 44, by a stingray - is in talks with Universal Studios about making a biopic. Crowe, 42, is desperate to make the movie as he feels it would be a fitting tribute to the wildlife expert’s life. An insider told In Touch Weekly magazine: "It’s not about money for Russell - it’s about honouring his friend. "Steve once told Russell that he wanted him to play him in a movie version of his life."

Last month, Hilary Duff predicted that she'd be done with her forthcoming album by mid-September. Lindsay Lohan has denied reports claiming that lover Harry Morton has dumped her.

Tabloid rumours suggested that Morton ditched the Mean Girls actress after deciding that she was "too much drama" and growing tired of her constant partying. There were also claims that Lohan was spotted in tears after meeting with Morton at a hotel on Thursday night.

However a representative for Lindsay told Entertainment Tonight that the reports are "not true". The pair have been dating since July.

Paris Hilton is romancing blink-182 drummer Travis Barker , “They like each other very much,” says her rep.

The socialite had strongly denied she was dating Travis Barker, but her rep was forced to admit they were a couple after they were seen kissing.

Federline has been tapped again to be the face of Five Star Vintage clothing, company spokesman Kenneth Loo said Wednesday. Federline made his modeling debut with the company over the summer. His latest ads, showcasing the company's holiday line, will begin appearing next month.

The company chose Federline again because of his "renegade style," Loo said, and because it nearly sold out of each outfit Federline modeled.

What’s the film about? Two straight, single Philadelphia firefighters (Sandler, James) pretend to be a gay couple in order to receive domestic partner benefits. Tara Reid has reportedly had another boob job - to make her breasts smaller.

The 'American Pie' actress checked into a Beverly Hills clinic on September 7 to have her first set of implants replaced with smaller ones, according to In Touch Weekly magazine.

Tara also allegedly had had some other cosmetic surgery carried out on her stomach to remove some unsightly marks caused by an earlier liposuction procedure.

Tara is now recovering from the surgery at her home.

The blonde actress repeatedly and vehemently denied going under the knife, despite constant rumours suggesting she had boosted her bust.

However, she finally admitted having her chest surgically enhanced last year.

Mariah Carey, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Black Eyed Peas and Nickelback each received three nominations for the American Music Awards, it was announced Tuesday.

Carey, who has won nine AMA awards over her career, was nominated for favorite female artist in both the pop/rock and soul/rhythm & blues categories, as well as for favorite soul/rhythm & blues album, for The Emancipation of Mimi.

Nine artists received two nominations each: Mary J. Blige, Eminem, Kanye West, Jamie Foxx, T.I., Rascal Flatts, Pussycat Dolls, Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood.

In one of the leading races, for pop/rock album of the year, the Chili Peppers and Nickelback are up against the cast of the Disney Channel movie High School Musical.

In the country competition, nominees for male artist are Kenny Chesney, Toby Keith and Keith Urban, while the female artists are Faith Hill, Carrie Underwood and Gretchen Wilson.

The other categories are soul/rhythm & blues, rap/hip-hop, Latin, alternative, contemporary inspirational and adult contemporary.

Winners will be picked by a survey of about 20,000 listeners. The awards will be given out in a Nov. 21 ceremony in Los Angeles that will be broadcast live on ABC from the Shrine Auditorium.

Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain's widow Courtney Love has claimed one of the songs on their classic 1991 album 'Nevermind' is about her - but she won't say which one.

Speaking exclusively to NME, Love also acknowledged that most of the songs are about Cobain's girlfriend before he got together with Love, Tobi Valli, but she says there's one that he wrote about her towards the end of the sessions.

She said: "There's only really one about me because it was written late in the day. Most of the songs are about another girl, which is annoying. But I'm not gonna name (which one's about me) because I feel like it's just my secret. A lot of the songs on there aren't even about girl stuff."

Cameron Diaz filed a police report today claiming that a photographer tried to run over her and Justin Timberlake outside a friend's home last night.

According to the actress's report, "Diaz and Justin Timberlake were leaving a friend's home when a photographer hiding in the bushes tried to take a photograph of her," Harding says. "They both then chased the photographer for a short distance.

"The photographer then got into his car and drove toward both (of) them, causing Diaz to jump out of the car's way. She felt the driver was trying to hit both of them, and so she filed the report. She's alleging assault with a deadly weapon, with a vehicle."

Harding continued, "No arrests were made. We currently have no suspects, and the investigation is ongoing."

Madonna will wrap her Confessions tour tomorrow (Sept. 21) at the Tokyo Dome as the top-grossing tour ever by a female artist. Although final numbers are not all in, tour producer Arthur Fogel puts the tally at $193.7 million from 60 shows that drew nearly 1.2 million in paid attendance.

That gross narrowly puts Madonna over Cher's benchmark of $192.5 million. However, it took Cher an endurance-testing 273 shows between June 2002 and April 2005 to reach that mark on her marathon Farewell tour.

Madonna's Confessions tour followed the same model of the $125 million-grossing Re-Invention tour in 2004 and the $75 million-grossing Drowned World tour in 2001.

The programme for the 2006 London Film Festival was announced this morning, kicking off with The Last King of Scotland.

Sandra Hebron, the festival's artistic director, introduced the line-up for what will be the event's 50th anniversary. Recognising festival-goers' high expectations, she was insistent that the schedule would not disappoint.

Hebron described Kevin Macdonald's opening night film, starring Forest Whitaker, James McAvoy, Kerry Washington and Gillian Anderson, as "original, imaginative, intelligent and absolutely gripping from start to finish". She noted that the combination of personal and political present in the Idi Amin-themed film is a thread common in the productions on offer.

Among the feature films being screened at the festival are Emilio Estevez's Bobby, Will Ferrell comedy Stranger Than Fiction, Richard Linklater's adaptation of Eric Schlosser's appetite-destroying bestseller Fast Food Nation and Chinese movie Still Life, the winner of the Venice Film Festival's Golden Lion.

Discussing filmmaking in career interviews will be an impressive group of speakers including Tim Burton, Richard Linklater and Dustin Hoffman, whilst Emilio Estevez, Anthony Minghella and Peter O'Toole are amongst the other names in attendance.

Ending proceedings will be Babel, starring Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett and Gael Garcia Bernal.

Hebron said of the line-up: "In this significant year, we're very excited to be able to bring such a strong selection of original and distinctive films to London, together with some truly innovative special events. We're looking forward to welcoming all our participating filmmakers, audiences and press and industry delegates to join us in celebrating the Festival's 50th anniversary and its promising future."

Keith Richards, who inspired Johnny Depp's Captain Jack Sparrow, is filming for his role in the next Pirates of the Caribbean film.

The Rolling Stones star, whom Depp has credited for his portrayal of the legendary pirate, is making a cameo appearance in Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End, due for release next May.

Fellow Stone Ronnie Wood revealed he was "hard at work on the set with Johnny Depp." The guitarist continued: "He said he's gonna come to the next rehearsal in character - he's gonna come straight off set dressed as a pirate, and come to rehearsals.

"He said to me: 'I'm not allowed to shave from now on, so they're gonna tie little bits on my beard. Whatever bits grow, they're gonna dangle bits off of it, and the longer it gets, the more they're gonna tie on'," explained Wood. "He promised to take a Polaroid as I'm dying to see it!"

Depp has previously cited his friend Richards as the character behind Sparrow. "I thought of Keith because he's a guy I've admired for many, many years," he said. "I didn't want to do an imitation of Keith, or a character study, just a kind of salute to him, you know, to show him I appreciate him.

Brad Pitt is reportedly being lined up to replace Tom Cruise in 'Mission: Impossible IV'.

Britney & Kevin's Baby Name: Sutton Pierce

Britney Spears and Kevin Federline have named their newborn son Sutton Pierce Federline, sources close to the couple revealed.

The infant, born Tuesday at a Los Angeles hospital, now has the same initials as his big brother, Sean Preston Federline.

The boys also (almost) share a birthday – Sean Preston turned 1 on Thursday, just two days after his brother was born.

Sutton Pierce has two half-siblings as well: sister Kori, 4, and brother Kaleb, 2, his dad's kids with actress Shar Jackson.

A rep for Spears declined to comment.

Actress Lindsay Lohan has once again been rushed to a hospital, this time for a fractured wrist.

Access Hollywood has learned from a source close to Lindsay Lohan that the actress went to the emergency room at St. Vincent's Friday in New York after sustaining a fall.

She slipped at a fashion week party in New York and her driver took her directly to the hospital. She was supposed to leave for LA today, but after her flight was delayed because of rain, she stayed in Manhattan.

DAVID BECKHAM had just boarded a plane at Madrid airport when his mobile phone began to ring.

It was early last month and the former England skipper knew the announcement of the squad for the friendly against Greece was only a few days away.

"There was no shouting, no crying. It was a five-minute conversation. As soon as he told me I was one of the casualties, that was really when the conversation ended.

"I told him good luck and that it was his decision as the manager. That's the way it goes. There was definitely no crying. Not on the phone to the manager, anyway.

"I was upset but I am a man and I would never crawl to someone to pick me for the team."

Hollywood stars JOSH HOLLOWAY, MATTHEW FOX and DOMINIC MONAGHAN have been banned from getting naked while filming hit show LOST in Hawaii - after producers expressed concern about their skinny-dipping.

Various newspapers and media outlets, including CBC Arts, published images of the Oscar-winning actor lighting up on Sunday during the press conference for his film All the King's Men, which had its world premiere in Toronto on Sunday evening and hits North American theatres Sept. 22.

No one should violate the province's smoking ban - designed to protect workers from second-hand smoke -whether it's Penn or an average bar patron, Ontario's minister of health promotion, Jim Watson, said Wednesday.

"Sean Penn's a great actor," Watson said, adding however that "if he was smoking and in breach of the law, he could be charged, and he should be charged."

Watson urged festival organizers to send a reminder about Ontario's smoking laws to their Hollywood guests "in a not-so-subtle fashion."

Watson also said the Toronto Public Health Unit must do a better job at dealing with festival visitors who flout the smoking laws. So far, Ontario has charged about 300 people with violating the provincewide smoking ban that came into effect in May, he said. They were all assessed fines of $105.

Chief medical officer anticipates investigation

Dr. Sheela Basrur, Ontario's chief medical officer of health, said it is up to festival organizers and managers at the hotel to ensure guests know of the smoking ban and to enforce it.

However, she acknowledged that the Penn incident "has certainly been an item of significant attention ... and I expect Toronto Public Health to follow provincial protocols in investigating."

A charge against Penn or the hotel can only be laid if someone submits an official complaint.

Later Wednesday, festival spokesman Denny Alexander apologized that the press conference moderator did not speak up about Penn's smoking on Sunday. He added that organizers do make every effort "to ensure our guests are aware and respect Ontario's smoke-free act."

'The O.C.' star Rachel Bilson is reportedly set to play Wonder Woman in the new comic book movie.

And the stuff they say about Suri? You shouldn't say that about us, and you can't say that about my child."

The tension between the couple has been as thick as a morning fog since Brad started shooting Ocean's Thirteen.

And the turmoil reached the crisis level recently. They had a huge blowup and things haven't been the same since," says an insider.

The growing rift between the couple was glaringly apparent when they attented a recent gallery party for Scott Caan, who was exhibiting photos he'd taken in Africa.

"It was obvious Brad and Angelina had a huge fight in the car before they even got to the Caan party," said a Hollywood insider.

"As they first pulled up, they sat in the car like strangers, each facing the other way. Their expressions were angry and tense.

"They split up in the parking lot and made separate entrances. And once they were inside, there was a force field of hostility between them."

According to an eyewitness, Angelina spent much of the party off in a corner talking on her cell phone, while Brad hung out with Scott and George Clooney."

Sources close to the couple say that the situation has hit a crisis point - and that Brad is considering his options.

"In a way, Brad's an empty suit. He's with Angelina and the kids, but his heart and mind is not really in it."

Adding to that stress, there is so much friction between Angelina and Brad's family, that according to a source, they can't even stand to be under the same roof.

No wonder Angelina has decided to throw herself back into work. "Angelina's recently amped up her career plans and is considering a whole new slew of projects to distance herself from Brad," says a source close to the couple.

Kerry Katona has launched a savage attack on estranged husband Brian McFadden after claims that she cheated on him while they were married.

Brian, who's now dating Delta Goodrem, had claimed: "I'd heard the rumours about her and Corsi for a long time but she always told me that nothing had been going on. "But, yes, it was true.

I'm still devastated. I can't believe what she did. It makes our whole marriage a sham."

I'm A Celebrity... winner Kerry - who's expecting her third child, with fiance Mark Croft, 34 - is battling alcohol and smoking addictions for the sake of her unborn baby.

However, she did enjoy a few Bucks Fizz cocktails during celebrations for her 26th birthday party, held a week early in Manchester's Belle Vue racetrack on Saturday.

Yesterday her spokesman Max Clifford confirmed: "Kerry had two Bucks Fizz on the night and she had a great time. But she has cut back on her drink."

The troubled ex-Atomic Kitten star is expected to reveal her drug and drink binges in her autobiography Too Much Too Young.

She claims: "Drugs and booze provided a mask to hide behind. I could pretend to be the old, happy-go-lucky Kerry who everybody loved.

For a few hours, I did feel better. But the pressure had become so bad I lost the plot."

Kerry is now worried about the effects Brian's latest remarks will have on their two daughters Molly, four and three-year-old Lilly Sue.

She went on: "I hope Brain gets success soon, so he can stop attacking me. All I've ever wanted was for him and Delta to be happy and for me to be happy with Mark.

"And for the sake of the kids I wish that he wanted that as well." Let's hope so...

Given the subject matter of "Until Yesterday," you'd wonder if JC Chasez took a turn toward country music.

"Well, it's not your average love story, by any means," the 'NSYNC singer said of the first single from his yet-untitled sophomore LP, due in early 2007. He performed the track with one of his best friends, Justin Timberlake, at New York's Roseland Theatre after last week's 2006 MTV Video Music Awards (see "Underdog Night At The VMAs: Panic, Gnarls, Blunt, Chamillionaire Win Big"). "It's actually about your girlfriend getting knocked up with another man's baby. How would you deal with that?"

Not well. But Chasez's music, while perhaps embracing the "cry in your beer" country ethos, won't sound anything like Travis Tritt. Chasez calls the album — which he spent more than a year and a half working on and just finished recording last month — a collection of "intelligent pop" (see "Justin Wows At Post-VMA Club Show; JC Chasez, Three 6 Mafia, Will.I.Am Join In").

"It's a great pop record — one that makes you think," he said of the follow-up to 2004's Schizophrenic. "It's not generic, and it's just a great sounding record too."

Chasez and Timberlake co-wrote and co-produced "Until Yesterday," along with two other cuts that are slated for the final track list: "God Bless America" and "Better With You." The singer also worked with rapper/producer Timbaland on a tune called "Fire"; producer Dallas Austin (Kelis, Gwen Stefani) on "F--- With My Mind"; and Billy Steinberg (who worked with Madonna in writing "Like a Virgin") on "I'm Not Sleeping Alone."

And, of course, Chasez had nothing but glowing reviews for his buddy Justin's upcoming LP, FutureSex/LoveSounds, due Tuesday (see "Justin's Album Shows Off Two Sides: Over-The-Top Saucy, Unassumingly Sweet").

"He has a phenomenal record coming out," Chasez said. "Obviously, he's one of my best friends. But 'SexyBack' is a brand-new sound for him, and it's opened up a lot of minds. The safe route would have been to make another record like the last one, because it was so successful. But I like the fact that he said, 'No. I'm going to be artistic. I am going to change my sound,' because that's what he was inspired to do."

When MTV News talked to Timberlake last month, he said he was excited to be working with his longtime friend.

"He and I have written three or four songs now that I kind of put a producer hat on for, which was an honor, because in my opinion, he had the best voice out of all of us," Timberlake said of his former bandmate (see "Justin Opens Up About Britney, Lance, JC And The Media"). "Out of all the boy bands, call 'em what you will, he was the one that could out-sing all of us. And I've known him since I was 10, so it was fun to sit behind the board and push him."

Chasez said he plans to tour in support of his next album, but at this stage in the game, he's more concerned with finishing the record's final mix — a task that should take up at least much of this week. And who knows? Perhaps when Chasez does hit the road, he could join forces with his new pals OK Go.

"They're actually really cool," the singer said after meeting the band the afternoon before they'd take the stage to re-enact the treadmill tomfoolery of their video "Here It Goes Again" (see "YouTube Faves OK Go: The Band Least Likely To Become Famous For Their Dancing"). The bandmembers consulted with Chasez about potential dance moves they wanted to borrow and throw into the mix. "I am going to go check them out now, and if the music is any good, I will certainly become a fan."

Kevin Federline will appear on "The Ellen Degeneres Show" today to talk about living in the shadow of Britney Spears and the constant press scrutiny put on their lives.

"I would be lying if I didn't say it was tough," says Federline about being Mr. Spears, "I think the expectation is real high for me you know, it's like you see my wife here she is this huge superstar everybody loves her, all of her music is just hits after hits and it's hard to compete."

Even though K-Fed hopes his new single "Lose Control" will be the next "Toxic," the musician claims no rivalry exists at home. "I don't see it as a competition you know? Maybe other people are putting it in that perspective, but to me it's not a competition ... I just have fun. I love rapping and making music period."

Lindsay Lohan's 12-year-old sister, Ali, will release her debut album, "Lohan Holiday," Oct. 10 via YMC Records/UME. The 12-track set includes a collaboration with Amy Grant on "Santa's Reindeer Ride" as well as familiar seasonal songs such as "Winter Wonderland," "Jingle Bells" and "Deck the Halls."

Among the original offerings are the title track and "I Like Christmas," which will be the first radio single from the album. Lohan previously appeared in the video for her sister's single "Confessions of a Broken Heart" and has made cameos in her films "Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen" and "Freaky Friday.

Japan's Princess Kiko has given birth to a son, likely postponing a long-running debate over whether Japanese law should be changed to allow women to succeed to the throne, the imperial palace announced Wednesday.

The boy is third in line to the throne, after Crown Prince Naruhito and Kiko's husband, Prince Akishino.

The Imperial Household Agency gave few details about the birth, which came by Caesarean section following pregnancy complications, and did not release the boy's name.

Ashlee Simpson, 21, turned heads on September 2 at the NYC bar Don Hill’s, as she snuggled and kissed a cute guy in the hot spot’s VIP section.

One big problem: He wasn’t Simpson’s guitarist and boyfriend of nearly a year, Braxton Olita; it was Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz, 27. Indeed, Simpson’s rep tells Us Weekly that Simpson and Braxton “broke up about a week ago. They have decided to take a break.”

A source close to Simpson tells Us, “Ashlee has been telling everyone that she’s over Braxton,” and adds that Wentz recently dumped girlfriend Michelle Trachtenberg in order to be with Simpson.

For his part, dad Joe may be relieved: A source says when Simpson told him she wanted to move in with Olita earlier this year, “he thought it was totally wrong, immoral and a bad decision. It caused a major rift between her and Joe.”

Ashlee had clearly moved on from her past love at Don Hills’ hipster dance party MisShapes that night where, according to Radar online, she proceeded to straddle the Fall Out Boy bassist, (Jessica was dateless).

However, when the party got going, the going got vomitous for the rowdier Simpson sister. At one point, Ashlee had to excuse herself to retch, and management kindly blocked off the bathroom for her.

Police arrested Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, who plays Mr. Eko on the ABC television series "Lost," in Waikiki early Saturday morning for a traffic violation.

The arrest for disobeying a police officer and driving without a license occurred at 2:25 a.m. on Kanekapolei Street and Kuhio Avenue, according to police records.

Akinnuoye-Agbaje, 39, paid $500 bail and was released after spending a little more than six hours in jail.

He is the third "Lost" cast member to be arrested for traffic violations.

In November 2004, Michelle Rodriguez and Cynthia Watros were arrested for drunken driving.

Both pleaded guilty last year. Watros, who played Libby, had her license suspended for 90 days, paid a $312 fine, and was ordered to undergo an alcohol assessment and counseling.

Rodriguez, who had a previous drunken-driving conviction in Los Angeles and two speeding tickets in Honolulu, was sentenced to five days in jail and $357 in fines. She also spent a day in jail in California after her probation was revoked.

Rodriguez' character, Ana Lucia, was written out of the series.

At least six other "Lost" cast members have been cited, but not arrested, for traffic violations, mostly speeding.

Glamour model Jordan is struggling to cope with her young son Harvey, who now apparently tips the scales at seven stone.

Harvey suffers from a rare growth hormone problem.

Jordan's hubbie Peter Andre told Closer magazine: "We've been taking Harvey to the hospital for more tests as he's been putting on a lot of weight recently and it's worrying us.

"He's now 7st, which is really unhealthy for a four-year-old.

"But we've been through tough times with Harvey before and we'll get through this."

James Van Der Beek has revealed that his is embarking on his first foray into screenwriting with a script about baseball.

The former Dawson's Creek star has been out of the spotlight for several years waiting for the right acting part to come along, but in the meantime has started work on his own project.

He said: “I’m writing something at the moment - a baseball film. Love baseball. My dad played professionally before I was born. It’s about a guy who realises his dreams of playing in the major leagues, and at the same time, he falls in love. It’s about trying to reconcile the two."

The star continued: "It’s the first thing I’ve written, and actually handed in, and gotten comments on - just ironing out some kinks right now, and it’s going to out to producers in the next few weeks."

"I’ve also got another idea for a film, and I’m in the outline stages of that right now. It’s a way of creating your own destiny. You can hang around and wait for the right script to come along, or you can go ahead and get onto it yourself. As long as you believe one hundred percent in the scenario, I believe it’s worth doing," he added.

Music stars Robbie Williams, Westlife and Elton John are reportedly set to coach the finalists in the current series of 'The X Factor'.

According to reports, the stars will join judges Sharon Osbourne, Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh in coaching the eventual finalists in the reality show.

Williams will assist in coaching the 16-25 year-olds, Westlife will advise the groups and John will coach the over 25s.

A source revealed: "Simon said he wanted this series to be the biggest and best yet. This is a massive coup."

Brad Pitt has reportedly been trying to call ex-wife Jennifer Aniston to help her deal with her father’s apparent heart attack.

Life & Style Weekly reported last week that John Aniston suffered a heart attack on 18 August and when Brad heard the news, he tried to call Jennifer to offer his support.

However, Jennifer changed all her phone numbers earlier this year and Brad couldn’t get through.

A “friend” has revealed: “Brad had to settle for telling Jennifer’s agent that he hoped everything would turn out OK.”

“He was really relieved to hear that John is going to recover. But this man was his father-in-law for five years, and Brad couldn’t do anything to help - because Jennifer obviously didn’t want him to. The whole experience underlined the fact that he’s not a part of the family anymore.”

David Beckham just confirmed on the Spanish TV show Gente that his wife, Victoria, is indeed pregnant with their fourth child.

Beckham was asked by the paparazzi if Posh was expecting and he said "Si (yes)" and smiled.

THE offstage antics at the MTV Video Music Awards were far more entertaining than the lackluster action on stage. According to The Post's Mary Huhn, who was in the star-studded pressroom:

A grumpy Jared Leto, who stars as John Lennon's killer in an upcoming film and whose group 30 Seconds to Mars won the MTV2 award, flipped when asked by a foreign reporter to sing his favorite Beatles song. Leto asked the journo where he was from and, after being told Amsterdam, snapped, "Don't embarrass your country!"

After winning the best pop-video honors for "Stupid Girls," Pink chirped, "Nick Lachey and Nicole Richie giving me the award was ironic. I can appreciate the irony." The newly married rocker also revealed the saucy title of her next single - "U + Ur Hand." She quipped, "You can imagine what I'm talking about."

Andre 3000 set the record straight, saying he missed his party at the Soho Grand's Dome because "I have a problem with time."

Chamillionaire, who won for best rap video, said he hadn't expected to win even though "a psychic told me I was going to win. That was crazy."

Axl Rose again promised that his album "Chinese Democracy," the Guns N' Roses disc he's been working on for 12 (count 'em, 12) years, will be out by the end of the year.

Meanwhile, as she hung out backstage, Paris Hilton couldn't resist striking out at her former best friend, Richie. A spy reports, "Nicole and [boyfriend] Brody Jenner were sitting on the sofa in the green room when Paris walked in." In front of LL Cool J, Jay-Z and others, "Paris ran up to Brody, threw her arms around his neck and squealed, 'Hello.' She started whispering in his ear and kissing his neck - and Nicole was getting really mad."

The final straw for Richie was when her beau "actually turned his back on her to talk some more with Paris." Richie finally grabbed Jenner's arm and hissed, "Let's go!"

"Star Trek" is getting a 21st century makeover. CBS Paramount Domestic Television is releasing digitally remastered episodes of the iconic 1960s sci-fi series, with all new special effects and music, to celebrate the groundbreaking series' 40th anniversary, it was announced today by John Nogawski, president of CBS Paramount Domestic Television.

The new episodes also mark the first time in 16 years that the original "Star Trek" series can be seen in broadcast syndication. The episodes will begin airing on the more than 200 stations that own the rights to the weekend broadcast syndication window starting Sept. 16 (check local listings for station and dates). All 79 episodes of the original "Star Trek" series will eventually be remastered, with the first batch of episodes chosen from a list of "Star Trek" fans' favorite shows.

"'Star Trek' redefined science-fiction and constantly pushed the envelope with concepts that were ahead of their time," Nogawski said. "By giving the series a digital upgrade using the best technology available today, it will continue to be a leader in cutting-edge television programming as we introduce the series to a new generation of viewers."

The most noticeable change will be redoing many of the special effects, created with 1960s technology, with 21st century computer-generated imagery (CGI). That includes:

Space ship exteriors -- The space ship Enterprise, as well as other Starships, will be replaced with state of the art CGI-created ships. The new computer-generated Enterprise is based on the exact measurements of the original model, which now rests in the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C.

Show opening -- The Enterprise and planets seen in the main title sequence will be redone, giving them depth and dimension for the first time.

Galaxy shots -- All the graphics of the galaxy, so frequently seen through the window on the Enterprise's bridge, will be redone.

Exteriors -- The battle scenes, planets and ships from other cultures (notably the Romulan Bird of Prey and Klingon Battle Cruisers) will be updated.

Background scenes -- Some of the iconic, yet flat, matte paintings used as backdrops for the strange, new worlds explored by the Enterprise crew will get a CGI face-lift, adding atmosphere and lighting.

The refurbished episodes also feature higher quality sound for the famous opening theme. The original score by Emmy Award-winning composer Alexander Courage has been re-recorded in state-of-the-art digital stereo audio with an orchestra and a female singer belting out the famous vocals. A digitally remastered version of William Shatner's classic original recording of the 38-word "Space, the final frontier…" monologue continues to open each episode.

The remastered episodes have been converted from the original film into a High-Definition format, which gives viewers a clearer, crisper, more vibrant picture than before, even when viewed in standard definition. Once stations upgrade and start broadcasting HD signals, the episodes will be all ready for viewers to enjoy in HD."

Sharon Osbourne’s dog has plenty of bite like her owner — after sinking its teeth into Hollywood star Patrick Swayze.

The Pomeranian pooch, called Minnie, lunged at the Dirty Dancing star as he was interviewed on Sharon’s ITV1 chatshow last night. Wary Patrick came on and said: “Hello Minnie, you’re looking as though you might bite my head off.”

But tough-talking X Factor judge Sharon insisted: “No, she’s lovely, a lovely little dog.” Then the dog pounced, causing the surprised actor to yell: “You don’t mess with Minnie!”

Shocked Sharon said: “She didn’t mean it — she bites me all the time!”

Meanwhile, she admitted during a chat with X Factor’s Chico that she has put on a STONE (14 lbs) in weight after “shovelling down fish and chips”.

GERI Halliwell found baby daughter Bluebell bruised and bawling after leaving her with a temporary nanny.

The tiny tot was shrieking when furious Geri, 34, turned on the nanny and screamed: "What's happened? What have you done to my baby?"

But the nanny — believed to have been hired from an agency while Geri looks for a permanent carer — said nothing and the former Spice Girl reported the bruises on Bluebell's arm to cops.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "We have received an allegation of abuse against a three-month-old baby.

"Officers from our Child Abuse Investigations Unit are investigating and inquiries are continuing. There have been no arrests.

Andre Agassi's 20-year career ended in a 5-7 7-6 (7-4) 4-6 5-7 defeat to German qualifier Benjamin Becker at the US Open on Sunday.

The 36-year-old was clearly affected by the chronic back injury which hastened his decision to retire.

Backed by a fiercely patriotic crowd, Agassi battled throughout but Becker's power proved too much.

The American legend fought back tears as the Arthur Ashe crowd, along with Becker, rose to applaud him.

Still crying, Agassi paid a sentimental tribute to his fans.

"The scoreboard shows that I lost today, but what it doesn't show is what I found," he said.

"Over the last 20 years I have found loyalty, you have pulled me through on court and also in life.

7th Heaven actors Jeremy London and Melissa Cunningham were joined in holy matrimony Saturday in California, a source confirms. (London played young minister Chandler Hampton from 2002-2004 on the long-running WB show, while Cunningham appeared in a 2003 episode.)

At the 5:30 p.m. ceremony at the Hidden Chateau and Garden in West Hills, the bride walked down the aisle in a dress she'd designed herself. The groom wore Hugo Boss.

The 150 guests included Cunningham's friend Carmen Electra, just back from the MTV Video Music Awards in New York City; London's identical twin brother, actor Jason (who starred in 1993's Dazed and Confused); Scott Wolf, who played brother-in-law to London's working-class Griffin Holbrook on Party of Five; and actors Kevin Connolly, Matt Lindquist and Jeremy Sisto.

The day before the wedding, Cunningham's friend and bridesmaid, So Low designer Sarah Siegel-Magness, threw her a bridal shower in a private cabana at LA's Peninsula Hotel. Bridesmaids wore special jumpsuits designed just for the party by Siegel-Magness.

London and Cunningham met in 2000 when she auditioned for a film he was producing, the Tommy Chong comedy Secret Agent 420 (she got the part). London proposed on December 23, 2005, with a three-carat center-cut diamond ring.

Fashion icon and award-winning singer and actress Cher is clearing her Malibu home of its Gothic contents and reshaping her life in a giant garage sale.

Following a trend set by rock star Elton John, Cher is selling off nearly 800 items from stage costumes to gem encrusted jewelry, works of art, furniture and even a huge Hummer car in an auction expected to raise more than $1 million.

"This is a lot more than a garage sale. Apart from the dresses and jewels there are Old Masters and architectural drawings," said Darren Julien of Julien's auctions.

"She has a huge following. She is an icon. Her career in song, stage and screen has spanned nearly four decades," he told Reuters as some of the items went on show in London on Monday ahead of the sale in Los Angeles on October 3-4.

The sale is being jointly organized by Sotheby's New York office and Julien's of the United States.

Among the items on show are several dresses by star designer Bob Mackie, white and yellow gold rings and necklaces and a book of architectural drawings by 19th century Gothic Revivalist Augustus Pugin.

The band made an announcement over the Carling Festivals weekend that the gigs would be their last live performances. Now they have confirmed their second album will be their last, and they will not continue to work together.

Their statement reads: "We can walk away at this point as friends and be increasingly proud of what we have done. Thank you to everyone for all your support and the incredible times we have shared with our fans and supporters."

Harry Morton is rumoured to have bought a diamond engagement ring from Cartier jeweller's to give to his girlfriend Lindsay Lohan.

The billionaire recently visited the company's store in Beverly Hills, and while friends say it was a ring with which he plans to propose to the actress any day, his representative remains coy on the matter.

Brad Pitt has revealed the winning architects in his competition to find an environment-conscious design for a new building project in New Orleans.

The Ocean's 13 star came up with the idea for the Sustainable Design Competition last year with the aim of discovering an affordable plan for both housing and community centres in the hurricane-ravaged city.

Having invested £105,000 in the scheme, the actor announced that Andrew Kotchen and Matthew Berman of New York firm Workshop/APD had come top in the contest.

"I'm very, very excited about the result. There are a lot of great ideas that came across the table," he said.

Orlando Bloom has politely declined David Hasselhoff's request that he play his son in a Knight Rider film.

When the pair recently crossed paths in Hollywood, the former Baywatch star took the opportunity to attempt to get Bloom on board, but without success.

Peter Jackson will produce a new version of The Dambusters, according to reports.

The Lord Of The Rings director will take on the $30 million film, which will be directed by his friend Christian Rivers. Rivers will make his directorial debut, having previously worked with Jackson as animation director and visual effects director in the Rings series.

Charlize Theron has joined the cast of boyfriend Stuart Townsend's directorial debut, Battle in Seattle.

The Oscar-winning actress will play a leading role in the film which aims to explore the chaotic events surrounding the 1999 World Trade Organisation meeting in Seattle, Production Weekly reports.

The parents of Brody Jenner and Nicole Richie have revealed that they are happy that the pair are dating.

The Babyshambles star owes more than £10,000 in rent and left the walls of the property covered in graffiti and artwork painted in blood.

Owner Andreas Panayiotou has obtained a court order requiring the musician to leave by next week, and has referred to Doherty as the "worst tenant in his company's entire history".

He told the Mirror: "As well as not paying his rent, there's both graffiti and blood on the wall, and goodness knows what else. We have never known anyone like him."
