Downey Jr to play comic hero Iron Man

by lawsonjeff @ 2006-10-04 - 07:56:35

Robert Downey Jr has signed up to star as the superhero in a Hollywood adaptation of Marvel comic book Iron Man.

The Oscar nominated actor is set to start filming for the role, the latest of a string of movies based on popular comics, in February.

Kevin Feige, president of productions for Marvel Studios, said he was delighted with the deal, adding that Downey Jr had the versatility needed to play such a "complex" character.

Created in the early 1960s, Iron Man fights evil aided by his high-tech armour. Mr Feige added: "We cannot think of another actor better suited to bring one of Marvel's crown jewels to the big screen."

Downey Jr, who has recently agreed to write an autobiography, came though a period of drug use and spent time in prison in the 1990s.

David Hasselhoff has lauched a signature brand of clothing.

The former Baywatch star will release a range of surfing wear, calling it 'Malibu Dave'. The Hoff has dubbed himself "like Elvis, only alive" in terms of popularity.

He said of his new project: "It's just going to be supercool, laid back surfing gear. Everywhere I go, there are all these guys, like 400 guys, wearing the 'Don't Hassel The Hoff' shirt. There are guys who turn up dressed like me."

Duran Duran amazed by Timberlake

by lawsonjeff @ 2006-10-04 - 07:29:51

Duran Duran admit that their collaboration with Justin Timberlake has altered their methods of recording and writing.

The 80's band recently teamed up with the former N'Sync singer, as well as producer Timbaland, and were amazed at the speed in which they worked.

Lead singer Simon Le Bon revealed: "(Justin) works very quickly. We're usually slow as snails. It's quite a challenge, and we had to change the way we play, really. Particularly me. I had to be able to come up with ideas very quickly on the microphone. Just do it. Have new lyrics the next day - or the next evening.

However, the change worked out to be for the best, as Le Bon added: "This is the best thing that could have happened to us. It relights your fire. The stuff is great. We know we already have two singles."

Tori Spelling Sperminated

by lawsonjeff @ 2006-10-04 - 07:07:25

Access Hollywood has been holding our tongues for weeks. But now we can finally confirm the good news that Tori Spelling is pregnant.

Access found out last month in Jamaica during the Access Hollywood Royal Plantation Celebrity Golf Tournament where Tori and husband Dean McDermott took part in the festivities.

"Coming down here together as newlyweds, it's got to be kind of nice," Billy said to Tori.

"It's like a honeymoon all over again. But with cameras," she laughed.

A glowing Tori made every effort to hide her baby bump under loose fitting clothes. But out of respect for the couple's privacy, Access decided to wait until now to break the good news.

And the signs were all there – she wasn't drinking and spent most of the time taking it easy.

"What activities are you doing down here? Any tennis? Any action?" Billy asked her.

"No," she smiled.

And as with most pregnant women, sleep was also in high demand.

"You get so tired here. It's the air. It just puts you to sleep early, which is nice," a coy Tori claimed.

"Did you sleep while Dean was playing golf?" Billy asked.

"Yeah, you guys got up at 6 a.m. while I slept," she said.

"How late?" Billy followed.

"10," she grinned.

And frankly, who could blame her. Tori and Dean stayed in a lush Royal Plantation suite with breathtaking views and amazingly comfortable beds.

"Anything in the hotel is only the finest – that's our rule," Royal Plantation managing director Jaime Stewart told Access.

The happy couple was out and about on Monday in Toronto, as Tori's bump had noticeably grown.

Back in April, just two weeks before Tori and Dean tied the knot, an excited Spelling told Access' Nancy O'Dell she couldn't wait to start a family.

"We want babies!" Tori beamed.

"Lots of babies?" Nancy asked.

"Yeah," Tori replied.

"It sounds like you are actively trying or at least practicing very well," Nancy said, drawing a laugh from Tori.

"Well, we are doing it everyday so there is always that chance," she giggled.

Don't mock Bruce's bald head

by lawsonjeff @ 2006-10-04 - 07:01:52

The bald actor is not wearing a wig for his role as cop John McClane in the fourth Die Hard movie, Live Free or Die Hard, because he wants to show that the character has aged.

Willis, 51, has issued a stern warning to anyone who is thinking about ridiculing his lack of locks.

He said: "I'm a man and I will beat up anybody who tries to tell me that I am not a man just because my hair is thinning."

Willis is currently shooting the action movie in Baltimore, in the US.

It is scheduled for release next summer.

Meanwhile, Willis has revealed he wants to adopt.

The actor - who has three biological daughters with ex-wife Demi Moore - admits he would love to give a home a disadvantaged child but he doesn't want to do it on his own.

He recently said: "I would need somebody else in my life. I wouldn't want to just have a child and a nanny."

Fantastic Four Sequel

by lawsonjeff @ 2006-10-04 - 06:54:39

Beau Garrett and Andre Braugher have been cast in "Fantastic Four: The Rise of the Silver Surfer," a sequel to the 2005 box office hit.

Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, and Michael Chiklis are reprising their roles as superheroes in Fox's adaptation of the long-running Marvel comics series.

Shooting is under way in Vancouver. Tim Story is directing. He also shot "The Fantastic Four," which grossed $156 million at the domestic box office.

Garrett will play Frankie Raye, a scientist and love interest to Evans' character. In the comic she eventually gains super powers. Braugher will play a general with the responsibility to capture the Silver Surfer, which will be a computer-generated creation.

Garrett appeared as a sexy love interest in "Entourage" and makes her feature debut in Fox Atomic's upcoming "Turistas," opposite Josh Duhamel. Braugher is coming off his Emmy win for his performance in FX's "Thief."
