Arnold Schwarzenegger has had surgery on his broken leg.
The Californian governor picked up the injury on a family skiing trip in Idaho. His broken femur was rejoined during the 90-minute operation, and is expected to make a full recovery. However, he may be on crutches for at least a month.
Schwarzenegger's surgeon Dr. Kevin Ehrhart said: "Following the surgery, the governor was awake, alert and talking in the recovery room."
The former actor was relieved to have made such a quick recovery, revealing: "I was very lucky. It could have been far different. You never know... ...when you go skiing. I did all those things anyway before I was governor. I never stick to the rules."
