Focus Features announced casting is complete on the suspense thriller In Bruges from writer/director Martin McDonagh.
Although In Bruges will be McDonagh's first feature film, the writer/director has already won an Oscar. His short film Six Shooter, which he wrote and directed, took home the Academy Award for Best Short Film, Live Action in 2006.
The cast of In Bruges includes Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson, Ralph Fiennes, Clémence Poésy, and Jérémie Renier. Gleeson and McDonagh previously worked together on Six Shooter. Filming is expected to begin in February on In Bruges in Bruges, Belgium.
In a press release from Focus Features announcing the casting of In Bruges, Focus CEO James Schamus stated, “Martin has written a screenplay that is both killingly funny and dramatically affecting, and this fine troupe of actors from all over the world will interact marvelously under his direction.
We’re also very grateful for the extensive cooperation and support that Bruges is offering the production.”
In Bruges - Official Synopsis
In Bruges is the darkly comedic tale of the fates of hit men Ray (Farrell) and Ken (Gleeson). After a difficult job in London, the team is ordered by their boss Harry (Fiennes) to cool their heels in Bruges. Very much out of their comfort zones, the men find themselves drawn into increasingly dangerous entanglements with locals, tourists, and a film shoot. Soon, their perspectives on life and death are violently skewed.
Poésy will play Chloë, a woman working on the movie who catches Ray’s eye, to the displeasure of her ex-boyfriend Erik (Renier).
